Princesa Garden Resort and Spa Palawan is one of the top hotels in Puerto Princesa. It has a top location. Puerto Princesa is just an hour flight from Manila or Cebu. The hotel is a short distance from the airport and the town proper so it’s very accessible but away from the hustle and bustle. The resort has a number of rooms, suites and villas. They also have an in-house spa facility if you like massages. There are three different restaurants in the resort.
The hotel has complimentary airport pick up and drop off which was really nice, one less thing to worry about. To be fair, I’ve been to Puerto Princesa before and most hotels in Puerto Princesa offfer a free pick up service.
Check in was a breeze and we were given welcome drinks. We were assisted by an employee with a golf cart and we were driven to the back of the building of the resort. That was really nice.
The decor is very tropical. Room was nicely furnished. The door across the bed opens to a bath tub so it can be open to the room itself.
Bathroom is really spacious. The facilities are modern. The shower room has a really nice rain shower. We just had a problem with the smell that was coming out of the air conditioning like an old musty smell. We informed the front desk. They did send someone and the worker just sprayed some air spray on the unit and that did not help. The smell was still there which is a bit of a shame since the room was so nice. Each room also has a balcony attached to it.
After we settled in our room, we walked out to the water. We saw the over water villas. When we passed by it, it seems like no one was checked in there.
You can walk on the bridge and the floating bridge. The Golden Elephant Seafood Village which serves Thai food and is only open during dinner at the time we were there is located around this area.
There is a small sandbar in the middle of it and it was so nice when we went, we just frolicked around the area. It was just us and a Russian family of four. You can also use non-motorized water sports facilities like the kayak and paddle board.
The huge swimming pool is a really nice feature of the resort. It did not feel crowded when we were there. We always had a place to sit and lie down. It’s also very convenient that you can order poolside with drinks and snacks. The Tomato and Basil Cusina Italiana is across the pool. They serve Italian food and they have a wood burning pizza oven.
The complimentary breakfast that comes with the room accommodation and is held from 6-11am at the Rice Restaurant close to the reception of the hotel. The decor is very modern tropical. I like their furniture and they also have areas suited for groups.
They had a lot of food stations. There is the usual rice, eggs and meat for Filipinos. They also have a bread station. Cereals are also available as well as a variety of fruits and different drinks. The boyfriend had cereals and fruits while I had siomai because why not? Haha. Also bacon, scrambled egg, the red hot dog and some fried rice. I was happy. 🙂
If this was the first hotel that we stayed on this trip, we would have been impressed. It’s just that South Palms Bohol had set the bar really high for us. If South Palms is a 9/10, Princesa Garden Resort and Spa Palawan is a 7/10. It’s really nice with good facilities but the service is lacking. The aircon needs fixing and it’s really troubling to have that smell coming out of it. Otherwise, it’s a really nice hotel in Puerto Princesa and very accessible to the town and the airport.
