Isdaan Tarlac

Isdaan Tarlac

Isdaan Tarlac is a local open restaurant serving Filipino food located along the highway in Gerona, Tarlac. It’s a famous stop over for commuters traveling along the highway north. The restaurant has a very traditional decor and huts built with bamboo that are floating on water. It has some big figures too like a big Buddha at the top of a structure you can take pictures with and wide rice fields in the background.

Our home in Tarlac is only 20 minutes from Isdaan Tarlac so we decided to go for dinner since it’s cooler. We sat on one of these huts that are floating in water. There were just 4 in our group. I think these huts can accommodate smaller groups. If your group has more people, it might be better to be on the more solid structure.

We ordered our food and since it still needed to be cooked, we decided to go around the area. They have the area where you need to bring a bucket of water across the pond on a slim walkway while the monkey statues gushes a huge amount of water. The guy told us that there was a girl that tried it earlier in the day and fell on the water. That was not reassuring. Haha. My cousin decided to do it. He was surprisingly successful. Supposedly we win a kilo of fish and it can be cooked however you want it. We got 3 fishes and we’re just happy we had something extra. My cousin’s shirt was wet but it was a funny experience.

We wanted to order the Beef Caldereta which is so good but they said it was already sold out and unavailable for the the day so we just ordered the Bicol Express instead. The Bicol Express was just okay, not good and not bad either.

We also ordered Pinakbet.

Eating on Banana leaves is always fun! 🙂 This is a picture from a previous visit we had when we had the Caldereta.

After dinner, we passed by the infamous “Taksyapo Wall” where you can throw things on the wall to vent out your frustrations or just for fun. You can smash cups for as low as 20 pesos. They also have plates and other things like a TV.
