How I got my UK Tourist Visa in the Philippines

How I got my UK Tourist Visa in the Philippines

Do you wanna see the London Bridge, Stonehenge, and One Direction? Not necessarily in that order. A Filipino National should first secure a United Kingdom Tourist visa. The United Kingdom includes Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Any travel in these areas for Filipino Citizens would require a visa. So this post is about How I got my UK Tourist Visa in the Philippines.

This link gives information on the types of visa, if you need one, the how and where to apply for any other nationality

In the Philippines, there are 3 parts on how to apply for a UK Tourist Visa based on my own personal experience: Online Visa Application, Booking an appointment, personally submitting your documents and biometrics information.

Once you have your information on hand like your passport, hotel bookings, information about friends or relatives (there’s a part where they ask for an address and phone number if you have a friend/relative in the UK), income and financial statements, you can click on this online visa application page. It will ask you to register and give you a unique reference number which you should take note since you’ll need this to book your appointment online. If you don’t have all your information available, no need to worry because you can always get back and fill out the application within 7 days. Application is only completed once you have paid the necessary fees through credit card which is the last part of the application. Then print the application and attach the required photo. If you don’t have a printer at home, you can always get back to it and log-in elsewhere to print it.

Online Booking which is free and convenient, you can even reschedule or cancel an appointment.
– Call centre: You can contact the VFS call centre and make your appointment for PLDT / Smart Subscribers 1-909-885-VISA (8472); at PHP 32.00 for each minute for landline calls (excluding VAT and applicable NDD charges for calls made outside Metro Manila).

* I used the online booking option. I printed out the appointment page that they emailed to me. There’s a note that said “Please arrive at the Visa Application Centre not earlier than 15 minutes before the given time. We will not be able to accommodate late applicants. Please ensure to come on time.” There were also instructions on what to bring and what the process is like.

I was actually there 30 minutes before my appointment but we weren’t allowed inside. They were strict with allowing you only 15 minutes before your appointment. Then, you would need to submit an ID at the front desk to get a guest pass before proceeding to the 6th Floor. This is the address by the way and hours of operation:

UK VFS Visa Application Centre

VFS Services Philippines Private Inc
6th Floor, Eco Plaza
Building Unit 606
Pasong Tamo Extension
Makati City, Metro Manila

Application submission – with a prior appointment:
08:00 – 14:00

Application submission – without a prior appointment
07:00 – 08:00

Enquiries at visa application centre
13:00 – 15:00

Here’s a more detailed information like maps and public holidays.

On the 6th floor, you line up to get through the guard. They ask for your passport so they can check you off the list and they give you a number on a paper you fill out. You leave your bags there since you’re only allowed to bring in your documents, a pen and your wallet. They give you another number for this just like at the supermarket. ^.^

Then, it’s a waiting game. I was there for 3 long hours. If you don’t want to wait like I did, you can avail of their VIP premium lounge service where you don’t have to wait in line. You are in an enclosed space with refreshments and snacks for a fee of 2,000 pesos. I saw Helen Gamboa and her daughter Ciara Sotto on that day and they were at the VIP lounge of course. Here is a list of their additional services.

When my number was finally called, I submitted the following to the lady.

  1. My passport with validity of at least 9 months.
  2. Previous passports.
  3. Completed and signed online visa application form with attached passport sized color photo. Photo guidelines can be found here. I even made a mistake of interchanging my first and last name and I told the lady and she told me to correct it there and sign it on the side.
  4. Supporting Documents for tourist visa application can be found here. As for me, for the Evidence of Current employment or studies, I submitted the original and photocopy of my DTI permit, Mayor’s Permit and my latest ITR.
  5. Bank Statements, Credit card statements, Bank Books and photocopies. The lady asked me if I don’t need my bank books and I asked her how long is the processing time. She said it’s 5-20 business days. I asked her if it’s okay to just take them with me and she said it’s okay. So I just submitted the copies.
  6. Details of Accommodation, I submitted my hotel booking, and my itinerary.

* I was asked if I wanted to get the Priority Visa service for 4,200 pesos since I qualify for it. They process your application in only 2-3 days but I’m not really in a hurry. I would like to save that money for my travel fund. I availed of the Courier service for 330 pesos since It would be more convenient that way. It saves me money too. I also availed of the SMS status Tracking service for 110 pesos just so I am updated on the process. After paying for this, I had to wait another 15 minutes before they called out my name for biometrics.

For the Biometrics, you actually go into the room. I think there were two operating at the time. Then, I was asked to look at a camera to take my photos. She was asking me my name and my birthday really fast probably to check if I really owned the documents. Then she took my fingerprints. After that, I was finally done.

After a couple of weeks, I also got an email from the embassy informing me that my visa will be dispatched shortly. I also got an email from VFS regarding it.

Uk visa email

From application, we fast Forward to 19 days.. I finally get all my documents back and my passport with my UK visa valid for 180 days via courier.

Now, I’m still waiting for my Schengen Visa. ^.^ More on that on another post.

  • Wow that sounds more complicated than I thought it would be, and here I also thought that China was annoying with there visa, I guess it applies everywhere ^^

        • Hi Myra,

Yes, you would have to pay for your application. I’m sorry but I cannot remember how much it was at the time. I think it was more than 3,000 pesos but less than 4,000.

      • hello ems i just want to ask. if hindi ako ang gumagasto sa trip and tickets ko?? at wala akong bank account. kasi yung hinihingi nila ay 6months ago na mga payslip pero yung akin year ago na.. at yung husband ko gumagastos para sa travel fees ko. by the way. we apply for civil partnership as ” marriage visitor visa” the only thing i need to show is the yearly income of my husband in UK?? or need talaga yung monthly income ko?? at complete na rin mga papers ko except my bank account. at ask ko lang sana if pwede ba sila mag send ng mga application ko sa iloilo if mag avail ako ng courier service nila??? thanks in advance

        • Hi Christian,

Online ang application form na you have to fill up. If you read this blog post, nakalagay naman yung steps sa application. You would have to submit your papers either sa Cebu or Manila VFS office and they will take your biometrics (picture and finger prints) so I don’t know ano ang ibig mo sabihin na magsend sila ng application sa iloilo. Yung courier service is available pag ireturn na ang passport mo. 🙂

      • hello ems

i meant is if they can send my visa in iloilo with my other documents?? 🙂 via courier??

        thanks in advance

        • After you’ve submitted your papers and they have taken your biometrics and it has been processed then yes, they can return your passport and other documents through courier. You just have to pay for this service. 🙂

      • Halu Ms. Ems,

Kc i will be applying a tourist visa with sponsor at yung boyfriend ko nasa UK. .original ba dapat ibigay ko or yung printed copy ? Or dapat nyang ipadala sa aking yung mga original documents nya?? Please i need help. Mag a.apply na kami nxt week. Huhu. Thanks

      • Hello Ems, ask ko lang wala kasi akong credit card, is there any other option on how to pay the application online? Please i badly need your reply. Thanks

      • Halu Ms.Ems,

Huhu. Come what may! Talagang worried ako sa application ko. Huhu

        • Hi Sarah, I’m lodging my application on friday sa Cebu sad :), obvious ba na siya nagsulat? it’s your application so it should look like you fill it out.

      • Yes, nagavail po ako nun pero iba po yung systema nila from before sa ngayon. Marami po readers na nagrereklamo recently about that service pero baka nag-improve na. 🙂

        • what did he say? is it like my gf will do this and that etc,? did you write a cover letter? when I applied for my visit visa last year, both me and my now husband wrote cover letters, so just write one nalang, explain your relationship and your plans in UK and long term plans.

      • #Khaye
        – can i get your email add or FB? I have many questions. Huhu. .S.O.S !!!!

He didnt really state that I am his gf, he stated like *he is going to cover all the expense , that we are going to visit the London 2 or 3 days. He also stated * any questions or concern on this application just call on his number*

        • Just give me yours i’ll email you, where did he write that? I’m going to apply for settlement visa so not sure if we have the same application form, Is it the part where they’re asking for additional information?

    • Hi ems the vfs global sent me this message but d ko maintindihab ibig bang sabihin pwedi ko ng kunin yung passport?? Dear MYRA ,

The processed visa application for GWF reference number – GWF032534137 was received at the UK Visa Application Centre on 7/14/2014 3:02 PM .

If a courier service was purchased from VFS Global, your processed application will be delivered to the chosen address.

If not, your documents can be collected during the designated passport collection times.

Please note this is an auto generated e-mail. Please do NOT reply to this email.

      • Hi miss myra,

Pwede malaman kung kelan ka nag submit ng application sa vfs?kailan ka naka received ng email from them?ang UKVI Manila Visa hub nag email din ba sayo?

Nag pass ako ng application June 24,then wala ako na received na email and text from vfs hanggang ngayon..ang natanggap ko palang last friday is from UKVI saying,”Your visa will be dispatched shortly.”..hinihintay ko email ng vfs for the delivery of my passport pero until now wala..wait ko po reply mo ha..tnx!

      • Me and my wife have already filed the online application. We are scheduled for appointment on the same date this January. Ask ko lang kung me idea ka regarding the bank statement of our joint account kung pareho ba kami mag-submit ng wife ko, o kahit ako na lang. Oks lang ba photocopies? Same with the letter of invitation and sponsorship of her mother (living in London) and other supporting docs. Pareho ba kami dapat mag-submit ng copy? Thanks for your blog !

        • Hi ricodinero,

In my opinion, the letter of invitation is ok lang na copy pero ung bank certificate, pwede naman nagrequest ng 2 original copies. 100 pesos lang yun. Kasi mahirap yung pabalik-balikin ka pa to make copies and all, mahal pa magpacopy dun. I would suggest na mas ok ang sobra kesa kulang. 🙂

          • thanks for the reply ems. My wife has no job, she’s just a plain housewife. I worked from a company for almost 25 years. I have my COE and ITR and payslips. Pwede kaya include rin to (kahit photocopy) sa application ng wife ko o there is no need since we will travel together naman,

          • Yes it will help to include a photocopy of those.. Magkaiba pa rin ang application ninyo kahit you will travel together.

      • Yup..

          • Hi miss ems,

I just received my passport with stamped visa!kung kelan d ako ng expect ng delivery dahil sa bagyo, dun pa dumating..wala din ako na received na email or text from vfs kaya kala ko wala pa sa kanila..i’m sooo happy haha!!thanks miss ems for everything!goodluck sa lahat ng visa applicants!God bless!

          • Awww congrats Gelai!!! Enjoy your visit to the UK. Hehe. So happy for you! 🙂

• Hi Joan,

Usually sa email nanonotify kung ready na to be picked up or madeliver in a few days. Hindi ko sure kung may number ang vfs na you can call to inquire and maybe correct the email address para manotify kayo or punta kayo mismo dun sa office kung malapit lang kayo. 🙂

  • Do you remember how long after you got the text message stating that “your visa has been sent to the courier” that the visa/passport was actually delivered? Asking because i got the text a few days back and still waiting for the courier to deliver until now.. My understanding was that it should only take a day after receiving the text…

  • Hi,

Your blog is really helpful as my husband and I intend to apply for a UK Visa within the year. Was jut wondering how soon can you book an appointment? As we intend to process the same first week of November this year. Would a travel in December 1st week be too early, baka di umabot visa? (assuming we get one)

Do you have other visas already? Married? I am and I only have China and Korea Visa. Im nervous about getting a UK visa and have no idea how much should be my show money.

Hope you can help me and reply even through private pm.

    Thank you very much.

      • hello po ate emy .. ask ko lang kung di po ba mahirap kumuha ng UK tourist visa , pa help naman po ako .. i have friend in uk , he dont have time to visit me here .. so sabi ko aku nalng yung pupunta .. thnks po ^_^

As for approval, hindi natin masasabi. Good luck on your application. 🙂

        • Hi Myra,

There is no amount specified on how much you should have in your bank account to qualify. Some people don’t have much and they get a visa, some people have a lot but they don’t get a visa.

My advise is as long as you have a history on your account since for UK visas, they get the average balance over the last 6 months (when i applied, not sure if that has changed) and as long as it covers your expenses for your trip if you are paying for your own trip.

  • Hi,
I’m so happy to see your blog, and it really seems to be helping a lot people who’s having the same problem.nag paplan kasi ako kumuha ng uk visa and it’s going to be my first time, but unfortunately
wala ako’ng idea kung how much dapat ang show money ko.
sana matulungan mo ako regarding my problem.

    • Hello Phoebe,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I can’t really say kung magkano dapat ang show money. I guess as long as it can cover your plane ticket and accommodation plus daily allowance, depende din kung ilang araw ka dun. Kung may sponsor ka naman in the UK na magcover ng expenses mo, they would ask for their financial statement. Siguro, as long as you can prove that you can pay for your trip and you will go back home, wala naman maging issue.:)

      • Can i apply a tourist visa to uk kahit wala po akong trabaho at hindi nakatapos ng highschool ur bf ko lang po nag susuporta sa a

        • Hi Marie,

pwede naman.. yung chances mo lang to get an approval ang hindi natin alam. syempre the more papers you have to show to prove your social and economic ties to the philippines, the better. 🙂

      • hi ems i want to apply tourist visa to uk mahihirapan ba ako meron akong sponsor doon dati ko syang amo dito sa saudi sagot nya lhat expence ko pati bahay and ticket plsss help me

        • Hi Chona,

As for your chances for an approval, I can’t really say dahil hindi naman ako visa officer. Hindi ko din alam ang mga hinahanap nila or basis for approval. I would advise lang na provide documentation with your application to prove na you have ties to your home country and will return. Madami naman na nabibigyan ng visa with sponsors so itry mo lang. 🙂 Good luck!

  • I’m thinking of visiting a friend in london and she’s gonna pay the expenses and she’s wondering if she can just deposit money on my bank account as my show money. Would that be easier. Or listing her as a sponsor would be better?

And how much do u think would the expenses total to. From the visa applications and processing to how much showmoney would I need for a 10 day visit.. It would be really nice if you can reply on my email. Thank you.

      • Hi Ms. Ems,

I have the same situation kagaya nyang kay Nics.Meron akong friend sa UK, and he’s willing to shoulder all expense. and how much will be the total expense from visa application and show money for short visit.

Hoping to get a reply from thru email 🙂

        • Hi Arlene,

I don’t know about show money but I would guess that it should cover the expenses of your travel. It also depends on how long you plan to stay. You can check the UKBA website for the current application fee. Good luck! 🙂

      • Hi ems do u think im qualified for tourist visa if my fiance will pay for everything ?? Do i still need to show a bank statement?

        • Hi Myra,

I’m really in no position to say who is qualified or not. I hope you understand. As long as you provide complete and authentic documents, you increase your chances. 🙂 It wouldn’t hurt if you can show a bank statement. 🙂

Thanks again! and Good Luck! ^.^

      • hello ems good evening, nga pala ems ..ask ko lang po sana sa inyu kung mag sposponsor po bf ko from england tapos ang sponsorship letter ba na kailangan ay dapat na encode on the computer or dapat hand written? atyaka po ..ako na po ba magsusubmit ng ol documents including his bank statements and ol?? thanks po .. ….i really need help po ehh ..:) ..thanks ems yeahh 🙂

        • Hello,

      • oh yeah yeah ..sorry di pala dapat booked na term ginamit ko ..wat i mean is kung magpapareserve ba ako dapat ba na papunta at pabalik na epareserve ko?? thanks ems 🙂

  • hi, ems. your blog is really helping me. i have a boyfriend in uk and we plan to meet there, because he is very busy man. so we plan that i go in uk for tourist visa for 6 months, please help me regarding about show money, he sponsor about everything my expenses. mga magkano kaya dapat kung e show money, ung back and fort plane ticket ko lang poh bah? mga magkano poh, kaya? atleast we have idea poh. thank you poh talaga! nakatulog ka ng malaki sa akin. lalo na poh taga davao poh ako. salamat poh talaga 😉 godbless u poh. hope u reply my message poh. email nio nalang poh ako sa info poh. maraming salamat poh ulit! 😉

      • and one more thing ems …i would like to ask if im going to reserve a flights ,is it a must to book flights ..from phil-uk and uk-phil. papunta dun at pauwi? …. thanks ems ,,… 🙂

        • Hi Jen,

I don’t think it’s wise to book tickets since hindi pa naman sigurado kung bibigyan ka nila ng visa or hindi. Just make flight reservations which you don’t have to pay for. 🙂

    • hello Berlin ! we have same situation maybe we can contact each other maybe we can help each other ,,..Im from ozamiz ..and kukuha din sana ako ng tourist visa kasi bf ko nasa uk din and busy din sya …tapos sya lng mag sposponsor ng mga expenses ko ….hopefully we can chat sometime …add mo nga pala ako sa ym ko or message mo ko …pls ..sana makapagtulungan tayong dalawa 🙂

  • Hello, may I ask how much is the range of bank statement needed to support my document. i am currently employed and two years in the company. i do have savings, stocks and credit card.

    • Hello. Thanks for dropping by my blog. 🙂 As much as I would like to help, I really don’t want to put out what may be incorrect information about supporting financial documents. I don’t want to disclose what I did put in my application either. You seem to have enough to show for if you have a steady income, savings, stocks and credit card. I don’t even have stocks. 🙂

Good luck with your application! 🙂

  • hi ems,i’m happy na nakita ko blog mo i find it very helpful.
i have bf in u.k and he want’s me to visit him there.
sagot nya lahat ng expenses,i just really need to work on my visa and wala ako’ng idea.
please help me nmn about kung mag kano show money.
were both wondering if he can just deposit money on my bank account
as show money or listing him as my sponsor would be better?
hope you can mail me back regarding sa problem ko.
    Maraming salamat! and God Bless!

    • Hi Kestas! I can’t really answer ang show money. I don’t want to disclose the info I sent either. There’s really no specific amount. It’s supposedly not “show” money but how much you do really have in your account. Banks don’t just give the amount that you currently have for UK visa request unlike other visa application request, I think they give the average deposit for the last 6 months. So, that’s something to keep in mind. 🙂

Yes, you could list him as your sponsor. 🙂

      • worried lang po kasi ako
kasi less than 30k lng salary ko every month
pero sya naman po mag poprovide ng lahat, from travel to my personal expenses.
would it be better po ba kung mag deposit din sya sa bank account ko?
        more tips pa po plsss..
and thank you sa reply ms ems
        god bless!

        • If you have a job naman pala, then that’s good. You can let them know na you do have an income source. 🙂 If he is going to sponsor your travel, then he would have to provide financial documents or whatever they require sa application for the sponsors. I honestly don’t know which is better, I’ve never worked for an embassy or travel agency so I don’t really know kung paano nila pinoprocess. Haha. Ang pinakama-advice ko lang is read through the application form online very carefully and check what is required of you, also provide complete supporting documents along with your application, Good luck! 🙂

  • Hi po ems. Im glad to have found your blog. Its really helpful. Now i want to ask though coz im confused with the requirements. About the copy of flight tickets and hotel accomodation. The embassy wants to see it but recommends that make no payments yet for the booled flight and hotel accomodation. Im just wondering its possible to book flights and accomodations without paying for it? Itll be my first time to travel out so i have no idea. Please help me . Thank you 🙂

    • Hi Olive!

You can go to a travel agency and ask them na magreserve ng flight para sayo. Usually this is free but some agencies ask you to pay a minimal reservation fee (my experience: 100 pesos). Flight reservation lang ito under your name, it doesn’t mean na nakabili ka na ng ticket. Sa hotels naman, you can find hotel booking site sa internet or travel agency na hindi kailangan bayaran, kung pwedeng reservation lang muna. Ginamit ko ang na site, be careful of the hotel you choose, double check if kailan ang payment. Yung sa akin, parang 7 days before the booking ichacharge ang credit card, if i cancel before then, walang fees. 🙂

  • I have a question. I plan on going to UK next year and stay there for about 3 days (I only go there for a certain event). My concern is the show money. I’m 17 (going 18 next year) and I’m only a student with no job. I already have 150k in my bank account that I plan to spend for the trip but I’m not really sure if it’s enough. Pretty much, my usual allowance comes from my parents with annual income of only 650k (around 40k for monthly). What am I going to do? Any tips? I really hate myself if I miss that event I’ve prepared to go for months….

    • Hello. I’m sorry I can’t really advice on the financial documents since there really isn’t a set answer for that. I dislike the word show money. Whatever financial capacity you can present, do so. As I’ve mentioned in other comments, for UK tourist visa bank certification requests, banks usually give out the average of your account balance over the period of 6 months. So if you just deposit a huge amount of money now, it might show. I hope you get to go to that event. Good luck! 🙂

      • One more question. Since my income comes from my parents, does that mean that I have to show my parents’ proof of income as well when applying?

Thanks for replying, BTW! Since there’s no set answer for my original question, I might as well do what I can do and at least try. I guess that’s the only way for me get the answer to my question.

        • I’m not sure about that.. If you have pay slips or any kind of documentation like ITR, employment records from your parents’ business. If it’s not documented, I may interpret it as allowance if it comes from your parents. Thanks for visiting my blog and good luck! 🙂

  • Hi! Your blog is really helpful. 🙂 I would just like to ask if there is a visa processing fee for UK? And if I plan to travel to the UK, say, in October next year, when is the best time to apply for my visa? Thank you in advance!

    • Hi Les,

Yes, there is a visa processing fee and it changes depending on the exchange rate so it would be good to check online on their website. You can apply for a visa 3 months before your travel date. 🙂

  • Hi Ms Ems.. thank you very much for posting this blog regarding UK travel. I plan to travel to UK as well however, my problem is i’m currently here in Australia as international student. Can I apply for UK visa even if I’m here in OZ or am I required to go back to Philippines just to apply. Medyo mahal kasi pamasahe pag uuwi pa ako ng pinas para lang mag-apply.. di ko naman sure kung pede mag-apply dito sa oz for UK visa.. i plan to visit uk pa naman kahit for 2 weeks lang para magspend ng holiday break with my fiance.. thank you ng marami 🙂 God bless

    • Hi Beth,

Yes you can apply for a UK visa in Australia as long as you have legal status there. Just check their requirements. I was a student in the US and I applied for different visas there. Good luck! 🙂

  • Hello Ms. Ems,

Thanks for sharing your UK visa experience. I just like to be clarified about the time one needs to apply for a UK visa. The UK Border Agency website says this:

You can apply for a visa up to 3 months before your date of travel to the UK.

So if I’m planning to visit my relatives in the UK in March 2014, is it still ok if I apply for visa this December? (I haven’t completed my supporting documents yet). Please advise, thank you!

  • hi po Emz,

Im 21 yo. tanong kulang po ano po ang requirements para mag apply ng tourist visa and kaylangan po bang may show money or bank account to apply for it. Plan kasi ng bf ko dun na papuntahin ako for 180 days and he will be my sponsor. Wala po akong bank account and a good job para pang spend duon. What are the supporting documents needed? Pls reply! Thanks

  • Thank you for this post, it was really helpful. 🙂 I would like to kindly ask about the show money, as well. How much do I need to have in show money for a 7-10 day stay in the UK? Also, I think I missed it but how much is the processing fee/fee of the visa itself? My email address is my apologies for all the questions, I hope it isn’t too much to ask. 🙂

    • Hi Tisha,

Thanks for dropping by my blog. I can’t really advise on the show money since there is really no correct amount. You can have a million pesos in your account and still get denied a visa. My advise though is if you’re paying for your trip, you have to prove that you can cover your expenses have a little extra for emergencies.

The processing fee at the time I applied was: $132 and it may change. You pay your visa fee online in US dollars with a visa or mastercard according to their website. ( In addition to credit cards, a debit card or pre-paid card bearing the Visa or MasterCard logos are also accepted. Other methods of payment will not be accepted.

      Good luck! 🙂

    • hi goodmorning,I recieved and email saying your ear ANACIEL ,

    • Hi Ann,

Thank you for visiting my blog. ^.^ Here’s the list for the requirements at supporting documents according to the UK Border Agency website for visa applications including the tourist visa:

Siyempre magkaiba tayo ng sitwasyon, I applied for a tourist visa without a sponsor so hindi ko alam paano ang magapply with a sponsor. Hehe. I try to answer inquiries to the best of my ability pero sa mga more specific questions gaya ng sayo, siguro mas maganda na magtanong ka diretso sa visa processing center para sa tamang sagot: Heto ang link ng information like phone number ng call center nila:

Good luck on your application! 🙂

  • Hi Ems, thanks for replying to my Qs. 🙂 I have a follow-up question: In your opinion and experience, which was easier—getting a UK visa or getting the Schengen visa?

    • Hi Sai,

I really don’t know how much money you need to get a visa approval. There is no set amount indicated by the UK authorities. I’m so sorry, I don’t want to disclose my financial information. Good luck on your application! 🙂

  • Hi! I’d like to ask if the visa given to you was single entry or multiple? Or can we request for multiple entry? Because im planning to visit London on April 2014 and another trip on May 2014.

Also, i read that there is a rush processing (priority visa processing), by 2-3 days guaranteed your visa will be done? How do I qualify for that? Thanks!

God bless and take care po always.

  • Ate pwede poba mag ask about po sa uk tourist visa..pwede po ba ako mag apply kahit wala po ako work? Kasi may friend ako sa england and gusto nya ako mag visit sa house nya..first time ko po kukuha ng visa help nman po

  • Hello Ems i’m here in abu dhabi and plan ko bisitahin tita ko and gf ko sa london baka pwede mko ma help kng magkano ba n pera nasa bank account ko here and kng pwede rin ba mag send skin tita ko ng invitation tapos dto kna i apply sa abu dhabi pag nakuha kna bakasyon ko sa tita ko sana ko mag babakasyon..hanggat 2015 pa ma expire passport ko and may US visa din ako mkakatulong kaya un? pati ung mga travel history ko din? i need your help pls eto pala email ko i’m JC nga pala.thanks ems god bless

    • Hi JC,

I really can’t say kung magkano ang pera na dapat nasa account mo. I don’t want to disclose my financial information here in public. If you’re paying for your travel, you have to show na you can afford it depende din kung how many days ka dun at mga activities na gagawin mo. Kung may sponsor ka na gagastos para sayo, they would have to show their financial capacity. 🙂 Yes, previous visas and a travel history definitely helps with the application. 🙂

Heto yung link for the VFS-uae for more information:

    • Hi JC,

The money that is in your bank account should be sufficient through out your stay in the UK. For those work permit applicants in the UK one of the requirements for the point based system is Maintenance funds which is if the employer wont cover the first month expenses of the employee, they require the applicant to have £900 in their bank accounts, so I’m guessing if you will tell them that you will pay for your trip then you’ll have to have that amount times how many months you’ll be staying. With regards to your travel history, it will just prove to them that you are not the kind of traveler who overstays in a country, most specially developed countries but the you also have to submit your certificate of employment to make your case strong.

  • Hi Ems,

So glad I found your blog. I just want to know, do i have to write them a letter of intent?I did that when I applied for my Australian visa. My situation is bit complicated, I quit my job last September when my English BF came, do you think I have a chance to get a visa? and I understand that the visa is valid for 180 days but it says on the website na its the discretion ng mga border officer kung how long you will be allowed to stay in the UK. Ang dami nang questios noh?hehe hope you can shed light to my questions, thanks in advance.

    • Hi Khaye,

Thanks for visiting my blog. They don’t require a letter of intent at the time I applied but maybe it wouldn’t hurt if you would include one. There’s actually a person at the visa processing center that will screen your documents so maybe you can explain it to them so they can include the letter with your application. Siguro nga it’s the discretion of the UK border official but mine was just stamped for entry with a date and did not really have any indication of the length of stay. I even told the border official that I will only be staying for a week. The duration of stay is indicated on my visa which says 180 days. Hindi ko alam if you’ll get approved, I really have no right to give judgement or advice. Haha. Ang masasabi ko lang itry mo lang and hope for the best. Good luck with your application Khaye! 🙂

  • To those people na may bf sa UK who’s willing to sponsor their whole trip etc but has no work here in Phil whatsoever… You’ll have a tough time getting a visitor’s visa…specially if you’re just a commoner like me..First, its better to declare you’re visiting a friend. Na deny yung first try kong mag-apply ng visit visa because hindi naniwala yung UK visa centre that i’ll only be there to visit my bf. They were doubtful that i’m going to look for work there and overstay my visit.

  • Hi Ems, I found your blog helpful. And hope matulungan mo ako. I just want to ask for your advice. My boyfriend is a UK citizen, he wanted to meet me next month but nagkaron ng conflict sa work nya so he wants me to visit him instead. He’ll sponsor my finances and stay there ang kaso lang I don’t have a stable job here in the PI as I’m working as a freelancer. Wala akong working/supporting docs like ITR etc so I’m worried a magkaconflict at madeny ang application ko. Pwede bang sya na lang magprovide ng docs nya para sakin since he’ll be my sponsor?

    • Hi Ann,

Your sponsor is required to submit supporting documents pero you are also required to submit supporting documents. Pareho kayong required. I didn’t have a sponsor when I applied so I really wouldn’t know kung ano ang specifics pero nabasa ko lang na kailangan yung supporting documents for sponsors nung nagfifill up ako ng application form online. 🙂

I hoped naging succesful yung second try nya.

  • Hello there Ann, yung first try ko, ganun ang nangyari…i was jobless…i’ve just recently resigned from a call center company..anyway, and sabi sa refusal letter ko, naniwala yung embassy na kaya nga akong suportahan ng bf ko from UK kaso since i’m jobless hindi ko na ipinaalam sa knila yung earnings ko from my previous job…now, na refused ako dahil sa reason na yun mismo, telling me na i’ve never held any employment here in Phil at i have no strong ties or connection in the country.natural kase fresh grad ako sa college…anyway…. Kung free lancer k at never k pang na employ ng isang company, magiging doubtful sila sa source of income mo, although your bf will be supporting you, mag aalala yung embassy na pano n kung mag break kayo along the way habang nandun ka? San k pupulutin… Pwera n lng din kung may malaki kang pera sa bank account mo or mayaman family mo or may kamag anak k n peedeng sumuporta sau sa UK..pede k humingi ng invitation from them as well…

    • Hi Aika, I was then employed at 1 year palang akong freelancer. Busy kasi ang bf ko eh, di sya makapunta by next month so napressure tuloy ako :/

      • Same, dineclare ko lhat ng assets ng family ko pati previous earnings ko then naghanap ako ng job, then humingi pa ko ng invitation letter sa tita ko sa London..if possible if may properties k especially real state, mkakatulong ng malaki yun,, with regards to your bank account, at least 350 k yung dineclare ko for three weeks of stay…at hindi ko dineclare n bf ko yung sponsor ko dahil pinakamahirap to depensahan or iaapeal just in case ma deny k, only a friend, kase yang gantong kaso ng filipina ang kaduda duda sa embassy…as long as mapatunayan mo na hindi k mangangailangan ng funds ng UK at makakauwi k gamit ang sariling mong pera,,, there’s a high chance ma-approve visa mo…hope this helps

  • grabe masyado naman plang madugo. Gusto ko lang naman syang makasama. Hirap kasi pag nasa 3rd world country ka. laging pinagdududahan. I don’t have relatives in the UK so possibly mahirap nga 🙁

  • hi ms ems so happy to see your blog today i have question is itinerary really required for visiting a friend in uk?I’ll be staying for my friend until my visitors visa expired i dont have any idea how to make an itinerary.I hope you can help me also thank you and godbless!!!

    • Hi yuhanne,

According to the UKBA Supporting Documents Guide, it states – “a planned itinerary, IF YOU HAVE ONE. This could include: bookings or tickets for any excursions, trips and outings, email conversations about any excursions, trips and outings, travel agent bookings”. So, I don’t think it’s required. Good luck on your applicatoin! ^.^

  • Hi Ms. Ems,

I just received the following email from UKBA-Manila Visa Hub:

“Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days. Applicants in Australia and New Zealand should allow 3 days before tracking their documents via the local post. UKBA-Manila Visa Hub”

2 hours later, I got another email (this time from VFS Global):

“A decision on your Visa application [reference number] has been made by the British Embassy.
Your application has been received at the UK Visa Application Centre and is ready for collection.”

I’ve been reading other blogs about what these 2 messages mean, but I’d like to know your thoughts especially on the FIRST email. Was this the exact message that you received before you finally got your passport with an APPROVED VISA?

[But what I really want to know is, have they already granted me a visa?]

    • Hi Vee,

I was looking through my emails and I got the same exact two emails. I’m not sure if you’ll get a visa. I can compare the email they got.

I hope you get one and please let us know. 🙂

    • hi ms vee,

tanong ko lang po, since pareho po tayo ng situation. need po ba sa coe na permanent yung work mu? and need ba na malaki din yung kita mo? kasi im just new sa work ko ngayon and di kalakihan yung salary ko. but i worked in a callcenter before kaya may ipon ako sa bangko. is that enough? yun lang kasi meron ako, looking forward for your reply. godbless

      • Hello Sheela,

        1. Eto yung sinabi sa Guide to Supporting Documents:

“If you have recently entered new employment you should consider providing details of your previous employment and salary history.” []

        Hope this helps. 🙂

    • Hi Ate Vee,
      thanks po sa info,
      actually married napo
      ako is that enough
      proof na may family
      ties ako dito sa pinas?
      na di ako
      magoverstaying sa uk.
      and im going there just
      for a tour, just to
      return back the favor
      sa friend ko. worried
      po kasi kame if na
      baka madeny yung
      application ko.

      • and first ko po pumabas ng bansa, so wala po talaga way para sa ibang bansa ako magstay in na. tatakot lang po ko kasi, kasi first time.

      • Hi Sheela,

You won’t have any problems with the UK Embassy if you’re able to prove that 1) you have social/economic ties here in the Phils such that you really need to come back after your stay in the UK, and 2) you have sufficient funds to finance your expenses whilst in UK.

Then you have to prepare evidences of what you declared in your application form. So for example, dineclare mo na married ka so magsusubmit ka ng marriage certificate. Kung may business ka, isubmit mo yung business permit mo and so on.

    • thanks po ate vee. it helps po, 🙂 i will stay for 6months po, tingin nyu po magkano dapat yung funds? eventho lahat naman ng expenses ko sponsor ko yung gagastos. need ko po kasi ideclare na married po kasi sa passpprt kopo surname napo ng husband ko yung nakalagay, but sa employnent ko im still using my single name, baka po kasi maconfused po sila bat iba iba yung name ko, hehehe

      • To answer your first question: hindi ko din alam, sorry 🙁
Question no. 2: Better to write a cover letter explaining that your passport bears your married name while in your CoE you are still using your maiden name. What if you ask your HR if they can update your personal info, especially your civil status?

    • Hello ate vee,
      ahok po, pero yung last
employment ko po maiden ko po
      yung nakalagay kasi, include ko
nalang po siguro sa cover letter
and explain kopo. what if nagapply
po ako for 3months lang po na
tourist visa, or ilagay kopo sa date
of intended leave and return is mga
1month lang, possible po ba na
6months pa din yung ibigay sakin
na visa? para po kasi mas
maniniwala po sila if ilang weeks
lang po ako dun, tingin nyu po?
      thankyou so much sa respose
      sheela 🙂

    • Wow congrats Vee.. how long are you gonna be there? I’m planning to lodge my visa next week, ano ba mga supporting docs ang sinubmit mo sis?

And how long did it take for you to get the visa? Thanks much sis anf congrats ulit..

      • Thanks, Khaye 🙂 I asked for a 1-month stay…sinunod ko lang yung nakalagay dun sa webpage ng VFS global na required docs: CoE, ITR and payslips to prove na babalik talaga ako sa Pilipinas; Bank Certificates, bank statements plus certification of other financial assets na meron ako (i.e. coop funds, tas joint bank acct with my mom–for this I made an authorization letter na pinirmahan niya) to prove that I am capable of funding my personal expenses while I’m there. Since sponsored yung trip ko, I also submitted my sponsor’s letter along with their proof of citizenship and financial status.

As to the processing time, around 5 days kasi last Fri lang ako nag-submit ng documents, tapos since Monday of this week panay na yung update sakin ng VFS thru email. Kala ko mabilis na yun, apparently yung iba it just took them 3 days to have their visa application processed…

Basta ang tip ko lang sayo is to submit as much documents as you can to support what you declared in your application, because truly enough those papers will speak for you. Tsaka pala make sure that you photocopy EVERY original document that you will be submitting…although ang weird sa case ko kasi yung mga original docs ko nabalik ang kinuha yung mga photocopy (which is ang alam ko is supposed to be the other way around).

Good luck with your application! 😀

      • Pls erase the last comment re: original docs. The original docs are the ones to be returned, the photocopies are for the Embassy’s file. Sorry for the mistake

    • Hi Vee,

So happy for you!!! Congrats!!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you enjoy the UK. It was the same with mine, they returned my original docs and only took the copies.

      • I should thank you more, Ms. Ems. I’ve been reading your posts re: UK visa; it really helped me. 🙂

        Now Reading: My London Itinerary

P.S. What is an Oyster Card? Is it different from Travelcard? Which one would you recommend for me to avail, or do I really need them at all?

        • Hi Vee,

You’re welcome and if you have any questions at all while you’re planning, I’d be happy to help. 🙂

I should write more posts but I’ve been so busy the past week. I just wrote the blog post about the Oyster card. Hehe. It’s just a transportation card. It’s the regular card that most locals use. The Travelcard is different. Don’t know about the Travelcard much but it just depends on your itinerary and which areas you’d be travelling. 🙂

    • Hi Ate Vee,

thanks po sa info, actually married napo ako is that enough proof na may family ties ako dito sa pinas? na di ako magoverstaying sa uk. and im going there just for a tour, just to return back the favor sa friend ko. worried po kasi kame if na baka madeny yung application ko.

  • Hi! My friend will be graduating college on Sept 2015 in UK. She asked me to come and visit her there. Accommodation and food will be shouldered by her and her family. I’ll be there for two months. I checked the website already and saw the requirements and whatnot.I’m still a student as well and of course I don’t have that huge amount of money but I can show my mum’s ITR since she’ll be paying my round trip airfare and will provide some pocket money. I’m planning to apply to a call center though and work for 15 months — enough for my best friend and my travel escapade. Now, my question is, if I’ll travel on July 2015 to HK and Macau, Aug 2015 to SG – KL and BKK, and last wk of Aug to last wk of Oct 2015 to UK, when is the best time I should apply for the visa? Please do PM me as I might have more follow up questions. Thank you!

    • The earliest time you can apply is 3 months prior to your intended travel date – that is the rule now but it could possibly change in 2015. Your travel schedule is kind of tight. I would suggest to check the processing times around that time on their website. Mine took around 3 weeks but it might be different for other people. 🙂

      • So I can only apply by May… I hope I’d get my passport back agad. I read one of the comments here she got her’s after 5 days. Since I’m going to be sponsored, will the processing of visa be faster? I hope so.

        • I don’t know if it will be faster. I guess it just depends if they’re processing a lot of applications at the time or if they are not too busy. Good luck! 🙂

  • Hi Ms Ems,

Im reading your blog. its very helpful. just a quick question, is it necessary to buy a plane ticket first before applying for the visa? I currently residing in scotland just now but planning to invite my parents here on a tourist visa but i dont know if i have to buy them the plane ticket first before lodging the application.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Many thanks,

    • Hi jeylz,

It’s not necessary. I don’t remember submitting plane tickets in my application. It would be safer not to purchase one before lodging the application.

  • hi ate emz,

tanong ko lang po if malaki po ba possibility na maapprove ka kung may business ka? coe lang po kasi yung sakin tsaka bank statement. then married napo ako, so pupunta lang po talaga ako dun as tourist. first time ko po lumabas ng pinas, magbyahe abroad. kay diku po talaga alam, tulong po please. thanks po

  • hi ms. emz,
im in the process of gathering documents for the requirements right now, and i intend to avail of the priority visa service since i’ll be leaving end of february. im just curious when you’re in the part of booking an appointment. how many days from the time you booked the appointment online until the time you were actually booked? matagal po ba? is it just days or aabut din ng weeks?

    • Hi Mel,

Sorry for the late reply. Once you book online, you get to see the dates that are available. Yung akin yata, one week from the time I set the appointment.

  • Hi Ate emz!

I just got my passport this month and im planning for visa application this feb. My problem po is im just a nurse reliever and dont even have a bank account to show that i can support my stay sa uk. Im a transgender po like kevin balot. My boyfriend is sponsoring my trip and stay ko doun sa UK specifically sa england. Its my first time to apply and im really worried i get denied and dont know anong mga supporting documents na makasupport po sa rules na to prove that i need to comeback in the philippines and i can support my stay duon sa UK.

    • Hi Nyka,

If your boyfriend is sponsoring the trip, then he would have to show documents related to his sponsorship. I wouldn’t really know your chances of getting your visa application approved or denied but just present your documents the best that you can to prove that you have strong family and economical ties to the Philippines and you won’t be overstaying your visa. You will never know unless you try. 🙂

      • Thanks po ate emz. Im really nervous po and anxious. I really dont know whats the first step to do and requirements to comply with. Meron ka po bang alam about the requirements and also steps on how to apply for the visa?

        • Hi Nyka,

If you read my post, then it details how I applied for my tourist visa. I know our situations are not exactly the same pero same process lang din naman, different papers siguro for sponsorship lang or sa work. May mga links din dyan na you can click and it will direct you to the websites I went to for the applicatoin or other helpful links. It should be the same at the cebu office – the process, different locations lang. Usually for first timers natural ang pagiging anxious dahil you don’t know what to expect pero just work on it. Good luck! 🙂

      • Thanks po, another question po ulit ate.

Ano pong mga requirements na i need para maka support po na im going back to the philippines, im not married, just a reliever job like an on call nurse, walang business, i dont own any land except my parents. What requirements i need for me to be able to convince them that im 100 percent going back to the philippines?

  • Hi Ems, ask ko lang… yung bank statements or credit card statements ire-request mo pa ba sa bank mo yon? or I can just print them online since me online account naman ako? I’m now trying to apply, also is the method of payment via credit card only? hindi pwede ang cash?

    • HI Anne,

Ang bank statement – dapat original yan from the bank kasi iba yung ini-issue na bank statements for the UK tourist visa application. I think they look at the average daily balance for the last 6 months. Yung credit card statements, pwede mo iprint online. Yung method of payment, yes credit card only. 🙂

      • Thanks Em, pano magbabayad online? Nagtry ako magapply online, sira yung website nila so nagprint nalang ako. So not sure how to pay them, pag nagappointment kaba online saka ka lang magbabayad? thx

  • Hi Ms. Ems, I hope you don’t mind me answering some of the commenters’ questions here…like you, I just want to help them as much as I can and to be an encouragement to those who are applying for the first time. If not for your blog I wouldn’t be able to prepare and lodge my application properly and I wouldn’t be able to get my visa. So I’m sort of giving back 😀

  • Hello ate vee,

ahok po, pero yung last employment ko po maiden ko po yung nakalagay kasi, include ko nalang po siguro sa cover letter and explain kopo. what if nagapply po ako for 3months lang po na tourist visa, or ilagay kopo sa date of intended leave and return is mga 1month lang, possible po ba na 6months pa din yung ibigay sakin na visa? para po kasi mas maniniwala po sila if ilang weeks lang po ako dun, tingin nyu po?

    thankyou so much sa respose
    sheela 🙂

    • Hi Sheela,

I think it’s the consul’s decision whether to give you a visa of 6 mos. validity or not, and that’s something we have no control of. 🙂 Just submit as many evidences as you can, depending on what you wrote in your application and back it up with a cover letter to explain your situation. In my case I declared that I will only stay there for 1 month but they gave me a multiple-entry visa valid for 6 months. However, that may not apply to all. We really can’t tell.

      • Hi Vee,

ahok. how about naman po sa application, is it good if ill undergo agency or should i apply by myself? ano po kaya mas maganda gawin?

      • Less hassle if you course through your application with an agency but it comes with a price which I have no idea how much. If you’re willing to spend more though then go for it 🙂

    • Hi Ate Vee,
Thankyou so much po sa tulong, 🙂
im going to apply by this feb na,
      kinokompleto kona po yung mga
documents na kailangan. 🙂 if i
      have futher question, sana
      makapagreply po kayo ulit. pwede
ko po makuha email nyu po.
      hehe 🙂 godbless po

  • Hello ms ems,

Hindi ko sure kung malist mo siya as asset kung hindi siya under your name.

  • Hi Ate Vee,

Thankyou so much po sa tulong, 🙂 im going to apply by this feb na, kinokompleto kona po yung mga documents na kailangan. 🙂 if i have futher question, sana makapagreply po kayo ulit. pwede ko po makuha email nyu po. hehe 🙂 godbless po

    • Hi Anne,

Check mo yung date ng start of validity niya (pls refer to Ms. Em’s picture of her visa above). Kung ano yung date dun ibig sabihin pwede ka nang bumiyahe starting on that date 🙂

  • Hi Ems and Vee,

I received an email from UKBA visa hub..and it says.

Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days. Applicants in Australia and New Zealand should allow 3 days before tracking their documents via the local post. UKBA-Manila Visa Hub

***does it mean I got the visa? Nakakaloka talaga Australian visa ko tinawagan ako sinabi may visa tong visa na super nakakakaba.. thanks in advance.

  • hi ems, i have a question, is it required to submit DTI and MAyors permit and ITR? coz my current job is here in UAE and im planning to reapply dyan n sa pinas kc na refuse ako d2…

    • Hi Nikko,

Those are not requirements, depende lang sa sitwasyon ng tao. I submitted those because yun ang financial documents ko to prove ties here in the Philippines and that I have a source of income. Kung employed ka, you’d have to submit an employment certificate and also your ITR siguro.

  • Hi Ms. Ems and Vee,

I got my visa na!! yey bit dissatisfied with VFS Cebu service but okay na nga lang basta approved hehe.. thanks for answering my questions. x

Sabi nga sa ibang forum na if you received an email from UK visa hub saying “your visa blah blah blah” meaning daw nun you’re approved 🙂 I’m sooooo happy thanks everyone!

Just like you, I quit my job as well. Sana matulungan mo rin ako if ano2 documents ang sinubmit mo. Thanks!

      • hi girls,

I’m sorry ngayon lang nakapag reply, was very busy kasi aalis na ako sa Thursday. mga docs ko are business permit sa bigasan sa probinsya, I asked my mum to write a letter to the embassy about our family ties, I printed my Australian visa grant notice, letter of intent , pictures (of me and my family and me and my bf) then the rest is from my sponsor na, which is my BF’s dad.

    • Hi Khaye

just wondering anong nilagay ni mama mo dun sa letter nya? and yun mga pics need ba yun? to prove what po? sorry diku po kasi gets. dame kopo tanong no, thanks po sa sagot in advance.

      • just vouching me na babalik ako, about my role in the family when I was still working blah blah blah. I’ve been with my BF for almost 2 year na, met when we were both working in the Maldives and traveled together (so gave them proof of our relationship and pictures of our travels together) I told them I’m visiting UK to meet his family because he already met mine nung pumunta siya dito last year. May sponsor ka ba sis?

    • Hi khate,

yes po meron, bf ko po. but im married kasi here and sa passport ko surname ng exhusband ko yung nakalagay na. so ideclare ko talaga na married ako. problema ko kasi yung ties ko dito sa pinas how can i prove that. it was my first time din to go abroad kasi sis, so complicated ng situation ko. kaya i need help, thanks sa pagreply.

      • uhmmm ano ba mga ties mo dito? I met a lot of pinays in Australia na kagaya nang situation mo, may anak or properties ka ba dito?

    • wala pako anak and dont have properties as well, pero may work ako as a cashier lang sa computer cafe. but i dont think magiging proof ko sya kasi di naman ako sa company, pano kaya to? or sabihin ko kaya hiwalay ako? kasu baka naman isipin nila na papakasal ako dun, or mag overstaying.

      • hmmmm maybe you can ask your mama to write a letter and let her mention sa letter about your civil status. I’ve been reading forums and most of the denied applications kahit marami pera sa bank is ang reason to come back talaga. In your case just ask the owner of the cafe to write a letter nalang din and gandahan mo nalang ang letter of intent mo, explain mo ang situation mo now and your future plans after mo sa UK

        • Hi kyahe pwede ko bang e declare yong family ko and properties nila dito sa pinas as reason to come back?my kaunti akong pera sa bank at sponsor yong trip ko.Nakapag abroad na rin ako at ang pera ginamit ko para sa house ng parents I am single.kaso Wala akong doc sa pinagawa kong bahay noong nasa abroad pa ako.May mga properties nmn yong parents ko kaso lng jobless ako ngayon takot akong madeny…

    • okay po, i will follow your advice. pwede kuya ko nalang yung magsulat ng letter? kasi wala yung dad ko, hes in abroad and i dont have communication sa mum ko. my brother is with me sa house, is that okay po? ive been reading blog and forums din. and i was losing hope kasi so complicated ng situation ko talaga. but thanks sis, youre a big help. anyway happy trip sayo on thursday. 🙂

    • Hi Anne,

Nung ako, hindi naman. I can’t say it will be the same for everyone though. 🙂

      • Hi Ems, sa immigration ba itatanong ba kung bakit ka pupunta ng UK o kelangan ba ng supporting docs? last time na pumunta ko SG grabe interview sa immigration buti nakaalis ako :/

        • Hi Anne,

        • To Anne: the border officer in the UK will ask you some questions, it’s more about the documents you submitted; so, as long as your answer matches the documents you submitted everything will be fine. 🙂

      • @ Khaye.. Thanks!

        • wala pa naman akong na encounter na immigration officer na chaka sa Pilipinas, hehehe, but on my way here wala namang questions, pagkakuha niya ng passport ko she just stamped it and gave it back to me. Just to be safe just bring the letter from your BF and his proof of address.

    • HI Jenissi,

Hindi naman exactly interview pero you have to go to the visa processing center to submit your documents and they will get your picture and your fingerprints. Yung kukuha ng documents, kung may itatanong sayo about your documents, sagutin pero hindi sila consul. Sila yung nagrerecieve ng documents. 🙂

  • Hi. Yung may offer na 4200 for a faster processing yun bah yung sa sure na ma approve? Or is it offered to everyone? Kasi im leaving sana april. And my sched is on wednesday na.

  • Hello..I came across your blog and was thankful enough to read about your UK tourist visa post..Just want to ask if you dont mind and would really appreciate if you could help answer my it goes –Me and 2 sisters are planning to visit london as tourists but we do have a friend who is willing to sponsor the 3 of us, they can provide all the requirements needed but i am worried because i am single no kids, unemployed with no properties or anything to show strong ties, I have previous travel history though but only around southeast asia like Singapore, HK, Macau and Malaysia and have an anount in my account may not be too much but enough to cover ny travel and I will also be opening a new business under my name and trying to process it now..”Can i use it as supporting docs since i dont have any?” will they be doubtful knowing na newly opened sya by the time mag submit kami ng docs? Also i have applied as student to norway last june and is still waiting for the result up to now, will it be ok lang kaya? thank u so much and waiting for your reply. anyone who has the same situation or have an idea please advise po..Thank you so much and God bless 🙂

    • Hi Ninya,

I really am no expert to advise on other people’s application. I’m not sure about the newly opened accounts, alam ko lang mga bank statement for UK tourist visa application, they get the average balance for the past 6 months so hindi ako sure about sa newly opened account.

Try mo lang siguro and try your best to submit documents that prove your ties to the philippines. You’ll never know.. Good luck! 🙂

  • Hello poh, Salamat poh sa pagpost nito. It’s very helpful kasi nabigyan ako ng mga idea kung ano ang gagawin..Anyway, I have a question poh. My fiance and I we’ve been together for nearly 3 yrs nah. He is staying here in the Philippines with me for good. So, ok lng bah yung parents nya mgsponsor kahit hindi ko pa sila namemeet?

    • Hi Marielyn,

Good luck on your application! 🙂

      • Thanks poh sa pg reply Ms. Ems, May etatanong poh ulet ako…Yun sa online visa application nah binigay moh, ano poh bah yan? Yan poh bah yung forms for a tourist visa nah kailangan e fill up at e print out?

        • Oo, finifill up on line yung form.

    • Hi Marielyn,

My bf’s dad is my sponsor kasi kababalik lang nang BF sa UK after 3 long years of working and traveling abroad so wala pa siya masyadong savings. Just submit the sponsor’s bank statement for 6 months, letter of invitation, and proof of their residence, like utility bills or mortgage certificate and their passport biopage. ask mo na rin ang bf na magsulat nang letter of invitation.

      hope it helps.

  • Thanks sa reply ems really appreciate it.. I already have money sa account ko na more than 6 months na din the only problem is yung pag open ko ng business under my name para sana yun na ang gagamitin ko as supporting docs since wala ako iba na maproduce kaya lang worried ako baka magduda sila at iisipin na nag open lang ako for visa purpose kasi pinaprocess ko pa lng mga permits now and the rest so by the time apply kami newly open pa lng sya and im not sure kung pwede ko ba gamitin or not 🙁 but anyway will try my luck na lng.. thanks ulit 🙂

  • Hi Ems –

I just would like to check if vfs will be looking or getting your confirmation of appointment upon entry. I was not able to save, print and even get the reference number for the appointment. I likewise did not receive any email. Though im sure that my schedule is on feb 27, 7am. How do i go about it?

  • Hi ms ems,pwd ko bang magamit as supporting docs mga properties lng parents ko to prove na may strong family ties ako dito sa pinas na babalikan ko?unemployment kasi nakalagay sa application form ko o kung may idea ka ms ems ano talaga dapat pwd ilagay?pwede ba yong”Others”na lng? o pwd ba e declare unemployment?thanks and god bless!!!!

  • hey ms. ems, right now po inaasikaso na ng bf ko yung mga documents to support my visit for a month sa uk, ask ko lang po kasi sabi nya pa scan nya then pa print ko ko na lang mga documents nya, ok lang po ba yun? or dapat original or send nya sa ken via airmail? thanks and sana ma reply-an nyo po ako. thank you again.

    • Hi Nerry,

Sorry wala ako idea about papers ng sponsors dahil hindi ako gumamit ng sponsor pero baka may ibang reader or commenter dito na makatulong.. 🙂

    • Hi Nerrry,

Wala daw evidence na I’m living with my spouse.. eh I’m living with my parents house.

      • Uu kasi daw hindi sila satisfied na one month lang ako dun and uuwi after a month.. wala ako work dito pinas walangnstrong ties sa pinas kaya na deny.. anne and ems can I have ur email pls? Thank u

      • Goodluck with ur application… apply pa ako ulit.. 😉 message me status ng application mo.

Peak ba kaya talaga ngayon?

      • hi D.. nag apply ako cebu feb 11:-) sabi 5-15 days processing days daw.. and exactly on the 20th day dumating refusal letter ko. Goodluck on your application and update me.. thank u…

  • hi! thank you for your very informative blog.
my husband and i intend to go to the UK this May and we’re starting to process our documents already. having a hard time with our online visa application though 😉 do we need to fill-out one application each? my husband is the principal applicant and im his dependent.
    pls advise thanks

  • pahabol po Ms. Ems! is the personal appearance required? we have our US VISA and have had Schengen, Japan and Seoul Korea visas too…..

    • Hi Lilo Carpio,

I would guess that you would still need two separate applications but I’m not too sure about this since I applied solo. Best check with the visa processing center to make sure.

Yes, personal appearance is mandatory since they will be taking your fingerprints and picture. Even Helen Gamboa and Ciara Sotto showed up the day I went there for my application. Hehe. Good luck! 🙂

  • good afternoon! ask ko lang po … meron na po akong schengen visa… stay in germany for 25 days… now i plan to go in london for 2 or 3 days only… need ko pa rin po ba na kumuha ng uk visa? thanks & God Bless!!!

  • Hi thank you for all this information, it is so helpful.
I would like to have my girlfriend come here to the UK for a visit and was wondering what she will need in terms of money etc.
I will be paying all her expenses and she will be living here with me.
Any help would be very helpful/
She has never left the philippines and is very nervous about the whole process.

    Thanks in advance

    • Hi Rick,

I’m not very familiar in regards to the kind of documents needed for her application since I would assume that her sponsor (you) would be paying for the cost of her trip. I applied for a tourist visa without a sponsor. My advice would be to prove as much as possible on paper that she would be returning to the country. She would need to prove that she has enough family, social and economic ties to return to the country.

Good luck with the application! 🙂

  • hi po
    thanks sa info
im planning to apply tourist/visit visa to UK this month

    10 passport
    thanks please help me thanks

      • Hi Ferlou,

Every country/embassy requires different documents for applications ng tourist visas. Please refer to the Visa Travel Guides for more info. In my personal experience, halos ng mga sinusubmit naman sa other embassies na pagprove ng ties dito sa Pinas ay nasa documents na nilist mo. 🙂

    • Hi Ferlou,

Mukha naman madami ka documents na ipepresent. I’m not too familiar with the documents for the sponsor. When you go to the Visa Processing Center, they will sort out the documents for your application. Good luck! 🙂

      • Hi ems
        I got refusal of entry
        Eto letter nila:
I am aware that you are able to maintain yourself financially in UK for the holiday, however, it is bot clear how you know your sponsor or why he is accomoddating you for this trip. I am also aware that your sponsor sponsored another philippine national in 2010 to go to UK FOR THE purpose of marriage but there appears to be no evidence of this person in your application or in any of thensupporting documents you and your sponsor have submitted

        Please help me

        • Hmmmm.. Thanks for sharing here. 🙂

  • Hi Ems, Thanks for your helpful blog it helped me a lot. now I have got the the same email you got and the excitement is killing me 🙂 especially as I am just a normal jobless girl with only 40.000 peso in my bank, but I do have a sponsor.

  • Hi Mhie,

May I ask when you had your appearance at the VFS? I had mine last Feb 24 but until now the status of my application is “being processed by the British High Commission.” Feeling a bit anxious though it’s still well within the 15 days timeframe they mentioned.

Patience is a virtue, note to myself. 🙂

Thanks and hoping to hear from you.

  • Hi Sheela and Ninya The docs I provided were birth cert, BDO bank book. Family ties (parents etc) Invitation letter from sponsor copy of their bank statement.

Also hi Janey, I had my appointment with the vfs on the 21st feb, so a total for me of 18 long days haha, but I live in Iloilo so its classed as a province.

Hi Khaye, I will be staying in Shrewsbury Shropshire,

Thanks and Good luck to everyone!!

    • ah okay, I checked it in google maps and you’re more than an hour away from where I am, I’m in Coventry, 30 minutes south of Birmingham, I’m still looking for Filipino communities but wala akong mahanap na Pinoy dito hehe and madami dito Indians lol.. have a safe flight.. and the weather is getting better, di na masyadong malamig 😀

    • Hi mhie.. how much yong laman ng account mo? Wala ako bankbook eh, atm lang kasi without bank book.. kelangan ba talaga may laman and magkanu? Thanks

    • hi mhie,

wow, ang dali lang pala ng mga docs mo. sana ako kasing lucky mo din ako, hehe. anong family ties yung ginawa mo? letter from your parents? ganun? and how long yung sinabi mo sa application mo for vacation? para gayahin ko nalang din yung sayo. hehe, and yung binigay na visa sayo is for 6months ba? sorry ah. ang dami ko tanong, im hoping you gonna reply for all my questions. i need those info so badly. hehe, 🙂 thanks in advance. kelan alis mo?

      • hi sheela,

every cases is different… each individual got a certain circumstances girl, so my advice is all the docs that u think is relevant from your cover letter pass it. And I had a good sponsor to help me out on every detail of my application, cover letter, and documents. so if you have a sponsor, u must talk it over detail by detail.

    • hi mhie,

i also have a sponsor, but my only problem is family ties. thats why im asking if its okay to submit parents letter as an additional docs. theyve said kasi na most of tge denied application is because theyre lack of proving docs of their family ties here. thats why im nervous about mine. and about my sponsor, everythings with his docs.

      • hi anne,

not yet pa eh, hinihintay ko kasi umuwi dad ko para sa land titles ng house namin. as an additional docs, and letter from him. mag agency siguro ako para mas madali yung process, ikaw ba?

      • anne,

well tinitignan ko pa kung magagency ako or not. gusto kasi ng bf ko magagency nalang para daw mas alam nila kung ano talaga kailangan na docs para maaprove. pero parang ganun din kasi eh. laki pa ng gagastusin, ano mga pinass mu docs? crossfinger.

      • hi girls. just curious if any of you have met ur bf’s in person? I have met mine in person and maybe that’s why I got away with few supporting docs. I did declare my bf as my partner and explained we have been in a relationship for 18 months. And as what ms. khaye said that you need to state there that you don’t want to jeopardize you future plans together.

      • hi mhie,

yes we met already, hes been here twice na. but 8 mos palang kame eh. is that okay? pictures lang naman yung supporting docs dun right? i think its the best thing to do. noted po mga sis thank you so much especially khaye and mhie. 🙂

    thank you Jeanette

    • Hi Jeanette,

I’m not sure about that pero ang alam ko lang if you need a tourist visa, you have to apply at the country of your residence. I haven’t heard of a visa na galing UK at pwedeng dalhin dito.

Pag nangyari yun, sa May ako pupunta. crossing my fingers talaga 🙂

    • Hi Sheela and Anne,

You guys might want to ask any of your family members to write a letter, like yung mama ko sinabi niya how close we are and how I helped the family when I was working. She also mentioned na birthday nang one and only pamangkin ko sa september so kailangan ko umuwi then I gave em his birth certificate. Also if you guys are writing a lettrr of intent sabihin niyo na you are thinking of applying settlement visa in the future and that you wouldn’t do anything to make yourself look bad to UKBA.

      • hi khaye,

ako din friend lang yung idedeclare ko eh. which one ba yung mas convincing? sabihing bf mo? hehe. im gonna do what youve said, thats sa help superb. (y) ako sa cleethorpes mag stay.

        hi anne,

basta positive yan, hahaha. ako din ganun gagawin ko. pag naapprove punta nako agad dun. then kasama ko din sya uwi dito sa pinas after ng 6mos. 🙂

      • Hi miss ems, khaye

    • HI Ydram,

sorry late reply 🙂 may sponsor ka ba? if meron 20k is okay as long as yung sponsor mo maka pagprovide nang proof na kaya ka niyang supportahan while you are in the UK, may sponsor ako and I didn’t send my bank statement kasi more than enough naman ang proof ng dad ng bf ko na he can support me while I’m here. 🙂

  • Hi Ms. Ems and everyone

Thank you so much for posting this blog pati comments very helpful.. Question lng po ill be sponsored by my aunt to travel with her this comin april 2-17 and my appointment would be on march 20 pa.. I hope i can avail the 2-5 days process.. Possible ba un tapos alis agad ng april 2? All my papers are ready na except for the documents from my sponsor sana dumating na by tomorrow.. Papagawa din ako sa dad ko ng letter for proof of family ties.. Thanks to this blog and comments..

    • Hi Isabel,

From what I know the priority processing of the visa is only available to business and seafarer applicants, as well as general and family visitors who have traveled in the previous 5 years to the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or a country in the Schengen area. So if you qualify, you can opt to have your application processed quickly.

The complete link for the priority visa does not work anymore since VFS redesigned their website but I found a link on the net about priority visa here:

  • Oo nga, the website has a new look. I lodged my application through VFS Cebu on March 6 but i’m still waiting for the result until now. I’m not sure what’s taking so long. It was my second time applying for a visa since i was refused last Feb 4. Wish me luck.

      • The first time i lodged through VFS Cebu on Jan 28 it only took a week before i received my passport back with the refusal letter. I’m not sure if it’s just peak season nowadays. It’s now my 13th day since March 6.

  • hello everyone,

ask ko lang if pwede xerox copy langg land title ng house namin yung isumbit ko? kasi yung original namisplace, yung xerox nalang yung nahanap namin. one supporting docu kasi yun, or di ku nalang ipass yun? hayy, hoping to hear from you guys. thanks

      • Thanks Khaye! There’s no way na makakuha pa ko non so thanks talaga. 🙂

      • hi khaye,

yung letter of your mom hand written ba? and yung cover letter mo hand written din? im starting to working out all my docs kasi, thanks in advance. 🙂

        hi anne,

        • hi Sheela,

Computerized yung mga letters ko, I don’t think it will matter to them but for formality sake i-computerize mo na sis 🙂 good luck..

      • hi khaye,

ahok. sige will do, pano format ng mga letter? dapat ba sis may address ng uk embassy? nagsearch kasi ako ganun yung nakita ko sa net. thanks sa help sis 🙂

        • Hi Sheela,

Yeah you can address it to them but sa akin I started it with To whom it may concern lang, very simple hehehe

      • hi khaye,

        • I know how it feels sis..buti nalang nung time ko hindi pa masyadong busy so I only waited for 4 days then got my passport on the 5th day.. but just pray 🙂

      • Hi khaye does it necessary na original for the land title of my parents? Kasi yung mum ko ayaw niya inigay sakin photocopy lang with seal of certified true copy.. Pwede po ba yun?

  • Hello Ems, How are you? I’m planning to go to London and I have a sponsor. Hope to talk to you and inquire about my tourist visa application.

  • Hi Sheela, nagsubmit ako ng application March 3, kaso ang appointment ko sa 26. so bale 3 weeks after yung application ko saka ako nakapagpaappointment kasi fully booked na. If i were you, maglodge ka na ng application then saka mo kumpletuhin yung docs mo.

    • hi anne,

ganun? ikaw naman mamimili ng date kelan gusto mo appointment no? sige sis, thankyou. 🙂 if ever sabay tayo punta dun. hahaha positive sana tayo 🙂

    • my appointment was March 4. Got my visa just today (March 25), i heard people telling the process now takes time because it’s peak season. you’ll receive yours within the week din 🙂 good luck

  • my appointment was March 4. Got my visa just today (March 25), i heard people telling the process now takes time because it’s peak season. you’ll receive yours within the week din 🙂 good luck 🙂

🙂 i took the Bar exam last year, sa pagkabored, gusto kong magtravel after ng exam. i am UNEMPLOYED. haha so that’s not a good thing i think. pero i still want to push may luck baka lumusot. wala din akong sponsor/bf… PERO i have a friend who works in London, she gave me a letter of invitation to accommodate me. as in un place lang.. in the process of gathering my documents, wala syang mabigay sa aking financial documents or ITR! hahaha nakakaloka talaga! so ang napass ko lang ung Tenancy Agreement ng flat nya. (i read from a blog na pareho kami na ganto ang situation pero sya di nya dinisclose na magsstay sya sa friend, so that made me more nervous! haha)

      so ang sinubmit ko:
      1) application form
      2) passport
      3) cover letter
      4) itinerary
      5) letter of invitation, my inviter’s copy of passport and residency documentation, tenancy agreement
      6) bank statements and certificates
      7) vehicle invoice and LTO OR/CR
      8) Employment Certificate from my previous employer – to prove the source of my bank account
      9) Others:
-school documents and bar exam documents
-My parents’ personal and financial documents – pero walang bank cert/statement, mga land titles and vehicle invoices lang —> baka lang makatulong since wala nga akong work.

PROs: i have a valid US visa, and Japan visa (nilagay ko sa cover letter ko na pupunta akong japan after ng london trip), and maybe my travel history

CONs: i’m unemployed, incomplete requirements, single

*they still approved my application, i guess they are reasonable naman. they still look into each case. 🙂 kaya go lang! 🙂

      • hi janis,

oo nga no. galing naman, halos parehas lang tayo ng docs eh. pagkakaiba lang employed ako now, pero di naman ako regular. yun lang, then wala akong car blahblah.

passport, birth certi, marriage certi, bank statement, cover letter, my dads letter, land title ng house namin, photos namin ni bf, and with my family to prove na they meet him already, invitation letter from sponsor, reservation tickets back and forth, payslip ng sponsor driver license passport nya, yun lang.

okay na lahat ng docs ku eh, maglodge naku ng application this weekend. eto na to, wish me luck. hehe 🙂

    • Goodluck Anne. Na mention nila sa refusal na ung enrollment ko daw sa school di enough para bumalik ako dito kasi kaka enrol ko lng ulit last semester, need pa daw nila proof of attendance and progress, then ung proof of my relationship sa bf ko di daw sapat to show genuine and subsisting relationship, tapos lack of other means of financial support, at insufficient social and economic ties pa. My fault naman kasi alam ko kulang talaga ung mga docs ko so expected naman na ma deny talaga ako. Sana this time okay na kasi medyo madami na din ung nadagdag ko dun at gumawa na din ako ng cover letter to explain. Pero malay natin baka deny parin. We’ll see..

      • hi isabelle,

i think having a cover letter is a big plus kasi maexplain mo ng bongga yung mga reasons mo why youre going there. and why you lack of documents na naipresent. after a month dun ka naglodge ulit ng application mo?

      • Yes, ung first lodge ko was January 28 then one week after na deny ako nung Feb 4. Then one month after lodge ulet (March 6). 🙂

  • I got an email from UKBA Manila just now “Your visa will be despatched shortly”. Maybe it’s a visa already? Can’t wait to get my passport back tomorrow. It’s all worth the agony of waiting. It was crazy 20 days waiting for this email. Buti na lang di kami nag give up ng bf ko, ayaw ko na sana mag apply ulet kaso pinilit nya ako to give it another try. Thank God. 🙂

    • wow,,congrats Isabella, when I got that same email the next day I got my passport back with my visa na, where in the UK will you be staying?baka magkalapit lang tayo 🙂

      • Aside dun sa email from UKBA-Manila Hub this morning i got two other emails from VFS Cebu so hopefully i get my passport back tomorrow. Sa London ako mag stay. April 13 na alis ko. 🙂

      • I received an emai todayl saying that my visa will be despatched shortly. I hope this is it already. I lodged my reapplication last march 27 after my visa has been denied last march 12. Can i already try getting my passport in vfs by wednesday?

  • Wow congrats girl! C Lucy Torres kasama parents, kapatid at anak nya. Starstruck eh :p

  • oh ok, congrats, weather is getting better now, di na masyadong malamig 🙂 I live an hour and a half from London but I’ll be going there to meet my mate (pinay din) sa April 19 so maybe you can join us, only if you want 🙂

  • HI, Ive been reading some of the comments here and none mention about NBI clearance when applying for a tourist visa to UK. I wonder if you just missed it out or maybe nor really needed? Your reply will be appreciated.

    • HI KC,

I didn’t submit an NBI clearance when I lodge my application. I don’t think it’s listed on the supporting documents but if you already have it, it won’t hurt to present the document. If it’s not needed, they’ll just give it back to you. 🙂

  • Thank you to all ! I’ve read all your comments here and it helps a lot …For me I applied a Family Visitors Visa on March 12 2014 and based on your posts ..that a uk visa processing is 3 weeks or more either business or calendar days !…Anyway my husband is an EU citizen and working in The Netherlands …Hopeffully my UK visa is on the way! Thank you Emz for the nice blog ..very helpful to all readers !

      • finally on the 19th day i got my documents back delivered by 2GO courrier unlluckily it was a refusaL My spouse will make an appeal bcoz the reason is not really un acceptable? Covering letter is really very important u can explain everything there> thats my big mistake..i havent prepared one? anyway try my luck next time …!

  • Hi 🙂 I’m under 18 and I applied for a UK visa. I submitted my parents’ documents (salary, bank accounts, titles, etc). I wasn’t able to submit a cover letter (didn’t know about this until I read your blog), itinerary, accommodation, etc.

Do you think I have a chance? I just indicated the date of my departure and arrival but I didn’t attach any booking reservations. I’m nervous about my application.

    • Hi Ashley,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m not expert but I think as long as the papers you’ve submitted are complete, valid and they prove that you have enough social and economic ties in the Philippines, you’ll be okay but we’ll never know. So just hope for the best. 🙂 Feel free to share your experience here when you do get your result. ^.^

      • Hi Ems,
I keep coming back to this site to get updates on general visit visa application.
Today, i reviewed the guides to supporting documents, and under travel and accomodation, it requires tickets but advised not to oay it yet until visa is confirmed.
Id like to ask u which website could I possibly get a reservation of flights without paying for it?

        • Hi KC,

I don’t know of any websites that would let you make a reservation online and not pay for the ticket fare. If anyone here can advise, that would be great. I usually go to a travel agency and pay a minimal fee of 100 pesos or sometimes they do it for free when I ask them to reserve a flight under my name. 🙂

  • Hi, I am trying to track yung application status ng boss ko for his UK Visa, ask ko lang sana if the GWF number is the same as the application number na hinihingi sa pag-track online? need na nya kasi yung passport nya, may interview siya for Spain visa sa Tuesday. Thanks

  • Thanks for this informative blog! I lodged my visa application last Apr1. How do I track the status of my application at I have the small piece of paper (attached to my official receipt) but there was no handwritten tracking ref number. Is the ref number the same as th one the visa app ( that starts with GWF)?

    • Hi Joey,

Thanks for visiting my blog. 🙂 I actually don’t remember. I thought it’s the GWF too but this same question was posted a few days ago and one of the readers commented that the tracking number is on the piece of paper that they give you after submission of docs. 🙂

      • Was it to the same e-mail address used in lodging the visa application? Do you remember when it was emailed to you? I availed of the SMS tracking service but there was no mention of an application number, except for the GWF number.

  • I have finalized the documents im going to submit for my visit visa application. I have my
Passport, cert of no marriage, birth Cert, cert of employment from previous job abroad (im currently unemployed), bank cert, passbook, transactions of remittances to my bank acct as proof of source of fund of my savings, land titles under my father’s name, and cover letter. Question…do i need a letter from my parents because im going to include land titles thats not in my name?
To those who used their parents land titles, approved or rejected, please reply. The land titles are the only proof I can provide that i have reasons to come back here. Im a nurse and have worked abroad in the past years. I hope they do consider that I have maintained a good record in other countries.

  • Hi! I just want to ask how long does it take to get an appointment from the time I call the hotline? Also, do I still need to fill out the online application form aside from calling the hotline?

    • Hi Abby,

all applicants need to fill out the online application. 🙂 It really depends on how busy they are. Mine was a couple of few weeks but sometimes it could take a month.

“a letter from your education provider on headed paper –confirming your
enrolment and leave of absence ”

baka po kasi d alam ng school ko panu gawin yun because they dont usually issue such kind of letters.

at service unavailable po yung website ng VFS. d ko po mabasa how to qualify for that 2-3 day processing. thanks.

    • Hi Reden,

Maybe you can show the registrar at the school where you are enrolled yung requirement para mas maintindihan nila..

Unavailable nga yun dahil mukhang binago nila yung website nila pero to qualify for the priority processing: A General Visitor or a Family Visitor who has travelled in the previous 3 years to the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or a country in the Schengen area.

    • Just to share my experience, i went to my school registrars for letter to certify i’m enrolled sa school then i also asked a letter from one of my teachers to attest to my school attendance and standing. I submitted them together with my enrollment form and receipts for my payments to the school.

  • VFS does not accept inquiries anymore. It is now handled by HGS in India. Go to You pay 4GBP for web chat and 1.32GBP per minute for calls excluding your international call fee.

I had a frustrating experience with VFS. First, I wasn’t given a receipt. 2nd, I availed of the SMS Tracking but did not get updates. The only relevant update I got was my application was forwarded to the embassy. I did not get an update on when my passport could be picked up.

I had to go to VFS to try my luck. I only knew my visa was granted when UKBA emailed me that my visa will be despatched shortly and could be picked up at the visa center normally in 3 days.

It was disheartening as I had a confirmed flight that leaves Saturday and I was only able to pick it up Tuesday without any advise 🙁 (Wednesday was a holiday, and I was thinking if I do not get a reply by Thursday, I had no other way but to rebook or cancel the flight).

I did do the web chat and got no help. The first chat I was informed that the Entry Clearance Officer has not assessed my application yet and it will still take some time. That was Apr. 4 (Fri) and I leave on the 12th. Naturally, I panicked. Then after 20 minutes, I got an e-mail fdrom UKBA so the e-mail pacified me.

I read that the VFS advise usually comes in a couple of hours or a day after the UKBA e-mail. I didn’t get any and waited till Monday. No advise came. I did another web chat on Tuesday morning and got an update that my application is still not assessed by the Entry Clearance Officer. I told the agent how could it be, I already got an e-mail from UKBA. Then I told the agent to escalate it to the manager but was informed that as per my UKBA e-mail, it will be at the visa center in 3 days and that I should chat again after 3 days. It was a nightmare. So I decided to try my luck and went to VFS. My passport and visa was there. Still no advise till now from VFS. 🙁

      • Hi ems,

I do not usually post on blogs but for my UK application, I got through and was able to know what to do by reading the forums and blogs. 🙂 I kept track of your blog and it was a big help. So just returning the favor to other applicants whose brains are fried from worrying. 🙂 Cheers!

    • Hi meg –

When did you apply? I lodged my application last March 27 and have not heard from VFS yet except that my visa has been forwarded to the UK embassy.

      • I applied via web March 2 but only got an appointment Mar 19. Initially it was 24th but after several tries, I got 19th coz it’s peak season.

  • Hi Meg,

I had the same exact experience in VFS Cebu, though they gave me a receipt but they did not write the tracking number on it, I also subscribed to the sms tracking service but did not get any update. Next week came and I received an email fro UKBA saying my visa is dispatched already but no sms update nor email from VFS so I went to VFS the following day and the guards were asking if I received a text or email from VFS that my passport is ready to be picked up and I told them VFS never contacted me ever since I gave em my papers but received an email from British HC about my visa being dispatched. Luckily my passport and visa was already mailed to them and the agent said “your passport just arrived”, I just told them to give me my passport because I want to leave their office as soon as possible. UKBA wll send an email to applicants (successful or not) for a survey, I marked VFS the lowest possible score.

Anyway congratulations to you,, and have a safe trip! where in the UK are you gonna be?

    • I actually sent inquiries to the e-mail given at the site (and the helpline number posted there is not working due to vendor migration). The replies seem generic so it was not satisfying. I cannot track my application as I didn’t have a tracking number so literally I have no clue what happened to my application until the UKBA e-mail. I had to call VFS Netherlands hotline of which the agent was helpful and talked to VFS UK, who btw, wouldn’t talk to me. Only then did a manager reply to my email.

I will be at Southampton, London, and Scotland. 🙂

That would be expensive im from cagayan de oro kasi.. How about yung sa makati? Ok ba dun?

    • Hi Reden,

I live in the province too. Nag-avail ako ng delivery service. At the time of my application, wala naman ako problema na na-encounter pero 2013 pa yun. At least aware tayo.

  • Submitted mine on Mar 28 using their VIP premium service. Not a single SMS or email was received since it was docked. Tried calling and emailing their helpline, which was actually “no help.” Last update from their new service provider states that application not yet processed and it’s day 15 already 🙁

    • Hi, were you able to get a status update regarding your visa application? Badecie already got hers, and you submitted your docs just a day apart.

  • Sa akin po nag apply ako sa vfs nung march 21 pa,hanggang ngayon wala pang email or updates regarding my application?:(

  • I tried a status query on my visa application through e-mail (gave my GWF ref no. and my birthdate) and this was the response that I got:

“Thank you for contacting us. We can confirm that we have received your application but have yet process it. Please check back in a few days. Kind Regards, Jon Tsao UKVI”

I lodged my visa application in VFS Manila last Apr 1, and I made a follow-up on Apr 7. From the response parang hindi pa nila sinisimulan i-process. 🙁

Nakakalungkot lang kasi ang bagal sobra. When my applied for my Aussie visa before, ang bilis lang parang 5 days nakabalik na yung passport ko, normal processing pa yun.

I paid 2100 to get the Premium timeslot (so that I don’t have to be absent from work), but I had to wait for 2 hours to submit my papers!

Every delay is costly, because fares (train, bus, plane, tours) are getting more expensive as travel date gets nearer.

    • Will be trying to visit vfs after the holy week to check personally the status of my application.

      • hi badechie, can i ask if you have received any information on your application? my parents applied a day after you, but i am unable to find information on theirs…and was wondering if you can shed hope on my waiting. thanks very much!

        • Hi upandaway,

I received an email last monday that my visa will be despatched shortly. I dropped by earlier in vfs and finally got my visa after reapplying.

      • nagreapply po ba kayo?baki po kayo narefuse nung una for what reason?thanks..kasi i got refused..what did you do po?thanks

        • Yes nagreapply ako. Naglodge ako ng application 2 weeks after my refusal. Kinompleto ko ung docs. I submitted all possible docs na pede makatulong to establish my family ties, work and financial. I even provided some photos. Actually madaming photos of my local trips to prove na traveller tlga ako. Ayun, luckily i got approved this time.

    • hello Joey…for i’ve waited exactly 19 days before they delivered my visa..unluckily it was a refusal…and and pls note am married to a british ? my spouse is really disappointed about the reason of refusal…anyway have patience in waiting ..! goodluck !

  • If applying for a Tourist Visa to go to the UK to meet someone for the first time, is it better for them to sponsor or to leave them out of the application?

    • Hi PhilUK,

You will have to state the purpose of your visit. If you will be staying at this person’s home and he’s paying for your trip, you might consider listing him as your sponsor. If not, you could leave him out and apply on your own without a sponsor. I’m not really in a position to say which would be better. I wouldn’t know the details about applying with a sponsor since I applied without one. Good luck! 🙂

  • Hi Ms. Ems! This is a really great help for me. I read through the blog and Q&A and I’m learning a lot. I’ve been planning to apply for a UK visa since last year but then it always ends up as a plan. I have applied for a US visa for three times now and always gets denied so somehow, I fear that I might not pass this one. I’m not that rich and maybe I’m below the average range in the social class but just reading this gives me hope that I can be successful with my application. Thank you so much for the thoughtfulness of sharing your experience, as well as answering queries from other people.

    • Hi Gret Chel Anne,

Thanks for visiting my blog and your thoughtful comment. 🙂 We all have different circumstances but it shouldn’t stop us from traveling or seeing places that we want to see. There are challenges along the way such as applying for visas and we have to prove every time that we will return to our country.

Feel free to leave comments so you can also help other readers with your comments. Good luck on your application! ^.^

  • hello po! pwede po bang maguide kung maapprove ba ang tourist visa application from an invitor in uk?…actually we have been online friends since 2007…now he wants to invite me to visit uk for a vacation or future marriage maybe kahit na hindi pa ako annuled with my previous marriage…ano po kayang reason ang dapat ilagay sa kanyang invitation letter for my tourist visa application?

  • To : KC ..It says here personal /family circumstances ? supporting documents? well anyway ..i received an email from UKVI letting me to answer those questions asked and return back to them…i also forwarded the the email to my spouse for him to answer… My husband really surprised why they asking his family ties in UK .. bcoz he lives and work in Holland..and still he is registered in UK …about the finances sobrang sobra pa sa requirement nila ..ewan ko sa entry officer na yun…sabi ng hubby ko he is very sure that the entry officer who handled my papers is a filipino? kakahiya ..mali mali ang english….iba kasi ang engish ng British ..meron part kasi dito na hindi maintindihan ” your spouse has not evidenced by you:..hindi ma gets ng asawa ko itong word na ito?

    • Thats really unfair. I thought it should be easier in your case to get approved. Seems like most of the people (here) got their approval on their 2nd try. Well, i hope you get favourable response next time. God bless.

  • To: KC Hopefully ! As of now i’ve done the legalisation of my documents in the Netherlands …Maybe when im there ..My spouse will make an appeal to UKVI..i really want to visit the family of my husband in London…but unfortunately i was denied… ! thnx

  • Hello Ms. Ems! Napaka helpful po ng blog nyo as well as yung comments ng mga nagpa-plan pumunta ng UK like me. Medyo confused lang po ako.

My boyfriend will be coming over here in May and is planning to stay here for 2 weeks. I’m still a student po and I’ll be having my OJT in Manila this coming June. Gusto ko lang sana i-grab yung opportunity habang nasa Manila ako to process my tourist visa for UK. Babalik po yung boyfriend ko in November and magse-stay na naman sya for another 2 weeks and we’re planning po na sasama ako sa kanya sa pag uwi nya. My OJT is going to end before November po so there won’t be any problem in terms of the schedule. Ang concern ko lang po is in terms sa supporting documents ko as a student. Yung graduation ko po is scheduled on March pa which means free po ako from November until March (just before my graduation).

Other than that, wala pa din po akong source of income considering na student pa lang po ako pero retired policeman po yung papa ko and may ma re-receive po siyang money anytime soon. With regards to that matter, may makukuha po akong portion ng ma re-receive nya na amount of money. Pwede ko rin po kayang gamitin yung papers ng retirement ng papa ko as one of the supporting documents for my visa application as well as yung funds na mukukuha ko po?

Thank you in advance po. 🙂

    • Hi Kate,

Hindi ako masyado familiar sa mga documents pag student pero maybe you can request a letter from your school na you are currently enrolled and will be graduating in March. 🙂

Kung ikaw ang gagastos sa trip mo, then you would have to provide financial documents. Kung ang boyfriend mo, then you would have to provide documents from him as your sponsor.

Good luck on your application! :))

  • Hi badechi, just want to ask when you got denied for the 1st did you received any email from the embassy ? or they just send your docs back without any notice?! also when you received an email that your visa will be despatched shortly what time did you go to the vfs center? will they cater you when you go their even if you havent receive any sms notification. Thanks

    • Hi lime,

I got refused last March 12. I received an email and sms that my documents are ready to be picked up the next day. I got my refusal letter last march 17 when i went to vfs. I reapplied the following week and my appointment was scheduled last march 27. I received an email last april 14 that my visa will be despatched shortly. I went to vfs last april 16 and got my visa finally. I received an sms that same day, april 16, from a local number that i can already pick up my docs. Docs can be picked up between 2 to 3pm.

    • To Esmee Clarke; Sa mga immigration attorneys po sa mga visa assistance center pero may mga professional fees po.They will explain to you why your visa has been refused and magbibigay po sila ng advise if you will reapply or mag appeal.

  • Hi Badechi, thanks for the reply. Did you
mean to say that you received a 2 different emails and sms from the vfs when your visa was refused and when you got your visa? actually i received an email last april 15 that your visa will be despatched shortly but no sms notification. does this email sounds good?! should I wait for the sms notification before going to the vfs?! thanks!

  • Hi. I will apply for my visa next week. Losing hope after reading all the comments but still crossung my fingers. I have to go back here when class resumes. Baka 1 day lang ako sa london hahaha. Sana po may makasagot

  • To: Reden Villahermosa
refusal man o hindi ..they need to deliver your documents in your given address ..yes have to pay again a visa fee when you re apply…hope this will help u

  • Hi guys can anyone help me how long does it takes vfs to text you to collect your documents after receiving the email that your visa will be dispatched shortly? I received this last april 15 but until now I havent receive any text message to collect our passport in vfs. Should I go there? Even if there is no sms notification cominh from the vfs.?thanks

  • thanks badechi for the reply. maybe i should go there and drop by myself to personally pick up the docs. Hoping to have a positive result.

  • Hi Badechi, We finally got our family visa you were right their sms service is dysfunctional our docs are ready for pick up when they texted me last April 15. thanks for your help. Its really a great relief that everything goes well.

  • Hi can I know the VFS contact number Kasi if I direct to call sa costumer service nila Kasi may bayad hope u can answer me thank you

  • Hi all, finally got my approved visa earlier! 🙂 submitted my docs last April 1, received the “your visa will be despatched shortly…” message last April 23, received SMS notification that my visa was returned to Manila on April 23 (I got the email first before the text msg), and finally picked up my docs at VFS today April 25. 🙂

  • hi, i read that a credit card is needed para sa application payment, and i dont have a credit card? pwede kaya maki-swipe sa friend ko for that? i cannot find blogs or site regarding sa payment details eh…

    • Hi Nell,

  • hi,
pwede ka po maghiram ng credit card para magbayad ng application. yun po kasi ginawa ko, yung credit card ng bf ko yung ginamit ko. i hope that will help, goodluck 🙂

  • Hi ems me and my boyfriend is planning to go to uk for his bestfriend wedding on July 12 is it possible to apply my visa this may eventhough wlang 3 months bgo ako mag travel dun? Anyway British yung boyfriend ko and currently working in indonesia please help me tnx

    • Hi Joanne,

You can try and apply. Yung window ng application is 3 months within your travel date meaning hindi ka pwede magapply as early as April 11 kung July 12 ang travel date mo. April 12 pa lang pwede and onwards. 🙂

  • hello,

I just receive a txt message from about my passport that it will be dispatched. but I didn’t receive any email, what doesn’t it mean? kinakabahan talaga ako. 🙁

    • The sms i received was your passport and other documents can now be claimed/picked up at VFS. This is the sms i received on my refusal.

      • hi badechie,

thanks sa reply, how about email? did you receieved the same message? kasi ako sms lang yung nareceived ko which is, “the decision for your application has been made by ukba.” then a followed up sms again,”your application will dispatched in manila” I was wondering, kasi sa iba email lang yung narereceived nila unlike sakin sms lang then wala email. diku tuloy alam kung refused ba o approved. hayy 🙁

  • Hi Sheela,

based on the forums I’ve read (this one and pinoy exchange) the UK visa hub will only send you an email if you are approved for a visa, we don’t really know for sure until you get your passport back 😀 (just hope for the best, they might just forgot to send you an email 😀 )

    Khaye x

    • khaye,

oh I see. 🙁 anyway thanks for reply. atleast now i will not expect anymore. just so worried,

    • Hi po Khaye,

Regarding po sa application form ate… Sa may Employment and income section.. Dapat po ba ilagay yung amount ng money para sa plain or train ticket since sponsored naman lahat yung accomodation at flight ko. Or lahat dun lagay ko 0 amount pero sa may last part.. What is the total amount of your trip others maybe given you?

      • Hi NYKS,

I think i put £0 sa train, bus, etc di ko na masyadong matandaan then I put £900 per month sa monthly money churva, and about your documents, they will always try to get the original docs and dapat may photocopy, nakalagay kasi sa list of requirements na dapat ang supporting documents ng applicant dapat original, try to ask your Mum nalang for the original copy. Good luck!

    • Ate Khaye . I asked my mum but she wont let me have the original documents sa land title kasi takot siya. is it the same thing yung photocopy or scand tapos ipapa certified true copy mo? Kasi my mum is afraid na mawala. It took her 10 years kasi pagprocess ng land title.

  • khaye,

oh I see. 🙁 anyway thanks for reply. atleast now i will not expect anymore. just so worried,

  • hello.

sa mga nagpacourier dyan. ilang days po bagi ideliver yung docs? and dapat po ba ipakita pa yung reciept? and id? kasi ipaparecieved ko lang sya dun sa tita which I indicate naman dun sa paper na pinaglagyan ko ng address. thanks a lot sa magrereply

    • Hi Sheela!
Since we have the sane situation about the photocopy land title of our parents. God bless po! Hope to hear from you soon

Theyll have to send me their supporting docs this weekend na. I’ll be applying here sa Cebu na kasi dito nako nakatira 🙂 God Bless po sis!

    • hello there, i have question? did u picked up your passports in UK Visa Center in Manila after receiving email from them stating that the decision was made and passport was ready blah blah blah…. thanks for replying back!

  • Thank you for your informative blog..However, I have a question po…how did you arranged your documents po?may arrangement po ba and ano po ba ang qualifications nung Priority Visa Service?thank you po 🙂

    • Hi Dara,

I don’t think may special way to arrange the documents pero I arranged them sa order ng nakalagay sa blog post, sinundan ko lang yung sa document guide.

I’m not sure kung inooffer pa yung priority service since hindi na nagwowork yung link sa website nila but you can ask them directly para sure. If you read through the comments namention na yung qualitfications sa Priority Visa Service. 🙂

  • Hi ems, Me and office mates applied for a uk visa on the 15th of april using the priority processing and paid 7500 which as the processing center says takes about 2-3 days to get results but what got me worried is its been 3 weeks now and the only sms update i got was that the embassy has submitted our processed documents on the 15th of April. VFS is so unreliable in my opinion because today i visited the processing center the receptionist couldnt give me a straight answer why we werent getting any updates and why i took so long only telling me to come back in the afternoon and verify if the visa has arrived. There’s alot of secrecy as to why they can’t be clear with their services. I wanted to ask if you know anyone who has encountered the same thing we have.

    • Hello Ross,

I have been getting a lot of comments recently about the VFS’s unreliable service and vague answers from its call center and office. Most people have no idea what is up with their application. Hopefully they fix this – soon. I think they changed the way they process applications so maybe this is the transition time. It’s too bad that you availed and paid for the priority service which promises a shorter processing time and at 3 weeks, you still don’t have your result. Thank you though for sharing your experience here and hopefully it will help other people or someone in charge of the VFS can read it and improve their services.

I just hope mas maganda service dun. Sayang pera.

  • Its actually our office who paid for it and what really ticks me off is you don’t get a refund for such a lousy service. Wish they have a comments and suggestions corner at VFS.

    • Hi Ross, how was your application? Not sure if it’s too late for you but there is a phone number/chat you can avail of. Again like any other service you have to pay. It’s quite frustrating because i paid for the live chat and the message “no available agent” just kept appearing the entire day.

Also, we haven’t received any text message even if we availed the sms update. I read the terms and conditions and it said “realtime” update. Does that mean they haven’t started processing our application?

The VFS process now is really inefficient and causing worry to applicants.

      • It was a very coordinated but the process i didnt get to appreciate was the sms service which didnt provide updated info about the visa. I thought about the call center online query but my sponsors was the one paying for my visa and they opted to do otherwise. There were a minor mistake in our application as we indicated that we’re supposed to be going there for training and not working since this will undermine the UK labour force. On our second application, our sponsors wrote our office address here in manila that way they wouldn’t think we’re working there. Im thankful I got my visa after our second application. Wasnt that hard as long as the right info is provided.

  • Hi ms. Ems,
May i know if what courier partner ng vfs uk.. Just wanted to track the delivery of my passport. Hope you have the idea. Thnaks godbless.

    • we are also struggling of tracking my parents passports… i called UK Consulate in UK and they said the decision was made and passports was released since May 14, we received emails stating “Visa application – **************** , tracking ID No. ************* – Your processed passport has been despatched from the UKVI Decision Making Centre TARLAC , on 5/14/2014 3:43 PM to the UK Visa Application Centre”, until now my Parents never receive anything. so we are sending my cousin who is in manila to inform whats goin’ on…. My parents paid for delivery fee so no need for them to go back in Manila. So i think its better to pick up rather for delivery.

  • Hi Ms Ems,
Just wanna ask what is the other way of paying the visa fee other than credit card?as im not using credit card. Thanks

    • Hi leng,

I don’t know of any other option. At the time of my application, credit card was the only payment option. I don’t know if it’s the same now or if they introduced other mode of payments. 🙂

    • The only way to pay the visa fee is through credit/debit card, but you can pay using someone else’s card, mine was paid by my BF then I printed the receipt and submitted it to VFS together with my other documents. Good Luck!

My mum doesnt want to give the original documents so okay lang po ba photo copy pero may seal na certified true copy?

      • Thanks po Ate Ems 🙂
Regarding po sa application fomr ate… Sa may Employment and income section.. Dapat po ba ilagay yung amount ng money para sa plain or train ticket since sponsored naman lahat yung accomodation at flight ko.

        • Hi Nyks,

  • Can I ask here.can I re apply again next week after my application was refused. Ok naman lahat docs ko kaso yung bf ko nasubmit namin yung hindi latest bank stetement.supposed to attend a wedding kasama bf ko sa friend nya kaso na deny.
Wla man lng ako na recieve email or sms man lang na. Kahapon ko lang nakuha tapos dapat tuesday ko makuha yung docs and passport para man malaman kaagad yung result.
Pwde bah maka apply ulit kaagad at this time e try namin uli sa bf ko.

  • That question has already been asked and I remember she applied a week after she got her refusal letter, but since malapit na ang summer, processing times might be longer than usual. Good Luck!

  • Hi I wanna ask Kasi katatapos ko LNG ng test ko so I just waiting n lang the result if I past I’ll got to VFS to submit the requirements.. My question is madali lna LNG ba mag apply Kasi married na Kami.. And what I need to submit sa VFS ? Thank u

    • Hi Joan Shields,

The process ng pag-aapply ay hindi naman mahirap as long as you have completed your documents, medyo matagal lang mag-antay dun. Meron silang document guide and dahil iba-iba naman tayo ng sitwasyon, you just have to check kung ano yung kailangan mo isubmit. 🙂

  • hello guys we need help to track the documents for my parents we received emails from UK embassy last May 13 stating “Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days depending on which country you applied from or will be couriered back to you only if you have availed of this service”. Then May 14 we received again this email “Visa application – *************** , tracking ID No. …………-..–. – Your processed passport has been despatched from the UKVI Decision Making Centre TARLAC , on 5/14/2014 3:43 PM to the UK Visa Application Centre. Then late night we received again this email “Your completed Visa application -**************** has been couriered to your chosen address from the UK Visa Application Centre by our courier partner. To track the status of the shipment, please visit the relevant courier partner website.
Please do NOT reply to this email.

Now its Monday in the Philippines and my parents never received anything yet? what is the best thing to do?

    • If you go to UK as a tourist (staying there for few days and visit tourist spots) then you need an itinerary, just give them your hotel and excursion bookings, bus/train/plane reservations, but if you go there to visit your BF or family you don’t need an itinerary, you can write them a letter of intent instead.

      • Thanks again. Just want to share to you my situation. My bf wants me to stay there for 4 weeks and my accomodation is my bfs mum. So what will be the content of my letter of intent does it have to be the same as my cover letter? Or ill make a cover letter and a letter of intent? Pano po ba gawing ang letter of content? Im really sorry for asking too much Ate. Its my first time to apply and travel..and im doing my best para di madeny and meet my bfs family since he visited 3 times na dito sa Cebu. Thanks po 🙂

        • I didn’t follow any format, it’s personalized, just tell them the reason for your visit, your relationship to your sponsor and how important it is to be with him and see his family, and make sure you mention about your future plans with him, tell him you don’t intend to overstay as it will affect future visa applications, especially settlement visa.

      • Hi Ate, i just finished my letter of intent. What size of bond paper should i use? Does it necessary to be long or short? Is there a standard size of the bond papers of the letters? Kasi yung sa CoE ko they gave me the copy in short bond paper..pls reply back when you can 🙂

  • Hello, I just want to ask po sana kung kailangan pa po ng certain amount sa bank account para sa visa application? Balak ko din po kaseng mag-apply ng for tourist visa for two weeks lang. I have a friend there who’s gonna be my sponsor po. Thank you.

    • Hi zanesaira,

Since may sponsor ka at siya ang gagastos, siya yung dapat magprove na he/she can shoulder your expenses for your 2 week trip sa UK. 🙂

  • Hi .ms ems 🙂 just want to ask if u have any idea na pwede magwrk ang tourist visa holder sa UK? Im planning to go there for a visit of 6 months but the main reason is to work..
Somebody told me pwede magpart tym tourist visa holder but im not sure of it. Hope u can give me an answer

    • Don’t do that Hana, it’s a big NO, legally, you can’t work while on a tourist visa, that’s the reason why getting UK visa is very difficult na kasi maraming nagbe-break ng visa conditions nila and if immigration catches you, you might be ban from entering the UK for 10 years and will give you a bad mark that will affect not only your visa application to the UK but also to other first world countries.

  • Hi Ems, and Khaye just want to ask is there any possibility na maapprove visa ko if i have a job here small business, i included also some assets 2 family car and we don’t own any land. I have savings in the bank pero d gnun kalakihan. I wanted to visit my bf who is currently student now but his step sister is going to sponsor me and stay about 1 month. Could you shed some light about my situation. I would really appreciate it. Thank you
This blog is very helpful .

    • Hi Chinita,

Para sa akin, wala makakapagsabi if one can get approved or not. I would advise to submit complete documents, provide enough proof that you have enough economic and social ties here in the country at babalik ka talaga. I don’t know how they figure that out. Haha. There won’t be any possibility if you don’t try. 🙂

    • Hi Chinita,

For general visitor, you have to prove 2 things. 1) strong ties sa Pinas, since you have a job you can ask your HR for COE and maybe ask a letter from your employer na din stating the number of days you are allowed leave work and if the business is under your name you can submit the registration from DTI, you can also ask your mum or dad to write a letter to say how close you are to the family etc (strong family ties). 2) sufficient funds while in the UK, since you have a sponsor you need to ask her to write a letter saying she’s gonna support you while in here and your relationship na rin to her, submit her passport biopage, if she’s not a resident you have to scan the passport page with her visa stamp, her 6 months bank statement, if she’s renting she has to ask for a letter from her landlord saying you are allowed to stay there or if she has her own house you can send mortgage certificate. You make a letter of intent na rin to tell the ECO the reason for your visit. Good luck

  • Hi Ems, Sabagay I agree with you, no one can tell talaga. And it won’
t hurt if I’ll try. Thank you for your very informative blog.

  • Hi miss em ask ko lang po kung my idea ako kung ilan ang score na dapat makuha ng spouse da pag take ng test kasi one of requerments is to take the test so i got score 4. So pano ko po malalaman yung required score nila tnx!! Hope u can answer my question !! God bless

    • Hi Joan,

  • Hi.

Just want to ask if there are cases that the release of the visa is delayed. We applied for family visitor visa last May 8, 2014. And until now we havent received any updates aside from the documents were subimitted to the embassy on may 8. We availed the courier service. I tried to inquire the status thru email and the hgs told me that there has been delayed whilst future enquires are conducted. I dont know if this is just a template for processing status. What should I do? Do i have to go to vfs and ask them?

    • Hi Mon,

From the recent comments of other readers, it looks like hindi ganun ka-efficient ang paginform about the status of the visa and processing times like before. Yung processing time ng akin is 3 weeks. Yours is at 3 1/2 weeks right now. Kung malapit ka lang sa visa processing center, it wouldn’t hurt to go there and check. Just be mindful of the time na pwede para hindi sayang oras. Baka may readers din dito with similar experience na makatulong or makapagbigay ng info sayo. 🙂

      • Hi Ems,

Thank you for sharing your insights. Yup malapit lang ako sa ecoplaza, actually working here in makati. Is it ok ba pumunta kahit na walang email from VFS or Embassy mismo? I have this fear na baka denied na kami since until now wala pa. pero syempre we are hoping for positive results. 🙂

Anyone here na same with my situation?

        • Hi Mon,

Nung nag-apply ako, isa ako sa mga last group na naprocess kaya nung paalis kami, dagsaan na yung mga nagiinquire, around 1 or 2 pm yun. I checked their website just now (VFS), dati may oras yung para sa mga walang appointments at inquiries, ngayon wala ng nakalagay. Ask mo na lang siguro. Good luck! 🙂

      • Hi Ems,

Just received a message from HGS stating that “your application has been processed and the decision will be with you in the next few days.” Hoping for positive results.

Has anyone encounter this kind of message?

  • Gud day to all mga may sponsor po na na approved yung visa, yung mga requirements po ba ng nag iisponsor sa inyo eh all originals, meaning pinadala nila by courier or khit scanned docs lang sila and print ko nalang..kasi po yung ate at bayaw ko yung mag iisponsor sa kin..ang main purpose po ng visit ko is ihahatid ko yung baby nila na naiwan sa kin dito sa pinas..bale ako ang naging guardian ng baby nila for almost 14 months..british citizen na sila lahat, even yung pamangkin ko na ihahatid ko sa uk..ano po kaya mas maganda, ipada nalang nila yung mga documents?family visitor po yung sa kin..pls help po..

    Thanks a lot

    • Hi Gelai,

You can have the their documents scanned. In my opinion, it would be good if you can write a cover letter to explain the reason for your visit and letter of invitation from them, since may sponsor ka sis, make sure you give them strong proof of your ties sa Pinas and everything should be okay, 🙂

      • Hi Miss Khaye,

Thanks sa response..may pinakita ng letter ang sister ko sa kin na naka address sa visa officer ng british embassy, saying na they will shoulder all my expenses, and explaining yung reason kung bakit naiwan sa kin yung son nila..iba pa ba yun sa letter of invitation?and yung other requirements na they will provide includes copy of their bank statements, copy of their passports that shows na british citizen na sila, proof ng na mortgage nilang house doon..and yung strong family ties na dapat ko i prove, pano kung single pa ko?pwede na ba i reason na nandito namn mama ko at yung other siblings ko?at may business ako na need kong balikan?help me please..

        • @Gelai, ang Documents nang sponsor mo sounds fine to me, the letter your sister gave you is also fine and dapat 6 months na bank statement from her. Just write a letter of intent too para mas clear sa ECO ang reason mo to travel to the UK, sabihin mo rin sa letter mo how close you are to your mum and siblings, and since may business ka naman and if it’s under your name, just give them the original copy of your business registration. Good luck 🙂

          • Hi Miss khaye,

My sister sent me a message yesterday saying na they will send nalang ung mga documents, just to be sure siguro,hehe..first time din nila kasing mag sponsor kaya wala pa silang idea masyado..yes my business was registered under my name..small business lang siya but i’m hoping na ma acknowledge siya ng ECO na one of my ties dito s pinas, aside from my mom and siblings..and sabi ng ate ko no need na mag submit ako ng bank statements ko kasi nga sponsored namn ako,ok lang yon?ok na ba ang DTI(business registration),birth cert, passport, letter of intent, pics with my nephew, na requirements from me nmn?

      • Hi Ate Khaye,

If your mum is wrinting a letter proving how strong your family ties. What are the thing does she need to write or the contents in the letter?

  • @Nyks, your mummy needs to tell the ECO how close you are to her, the things you’ve done to help the family, you can basically say anything to convince the ECO that you have very strong family ties.

  • my visa says valid from 03/06/14 until 02/12/14 and duration of stay 180 days
I am travelling on 26 June which is what I put on application
Does this mean I have to enter before 02/12 or must leave by 02/12 which is less than 180 day

  • Hi Ms. Ems! I was just womdering papaano ako makakapagbigay ng supporting documents like financial and such. My mom and I would like to visit UK but siya lang ang may bank books and credit cards and payslip. I just finished my studies so kahit proof of enrollment wala akong maipapakita na I have ties here in PH pa. Sabay sana kami magaapply but since I am already 18, turning 19 this year.. What do you think, Ms. Ems? 🙂

Please reply on my email nalang po. Thank you!!,

    • Hi Nicole,

I’m not sure about your situation so I published it baka meron nasa similar situation na mas makatulong sa questions mo.

Opinyon ko lang, siguro since she will be paying for your trip which means na she will be sponsoring you. Otherwise, kung may means ka to pay for your own trip, then you can provide documents to prove it. Good luck! 🙂

  • Hi Ems and readers of your blog, just want to share our experience in applying for our UK general visit visa.

We submitted documents and biometrics last June 9. From the time we submitted our application, not once did we get any update from VFS even if we availed of the SMS/email update for 150 pesos. We got worried so we followed up via email. As of last Friday, June 20 according to the reply, my husband’s application “has not been assessed by an Entry Clearance Officer.” After getting that email we thought it was impossible to have our application processed within 15 working days. Yesterday i received an email from VFS saying “the processed visa application for GWF…was received at the UK Visa Application Centre” with instructions how to retrieve passports (either courier or personal collection). Based on what I’ve read from blogs and forums, if you get that email and nothing else, you’re most likely denied. Usually the approved ones get a separate email from the UK Embassy directly… So we expected the worst. To my surprise, today, I got our passports back with approved UK visas.

Just wanted to share – you can never really know you’re approved or denied by basing it with their updates or emails. You’ll really have to wait until you get your passport back to see for sure.

    Good luck to everyone!

    • hay salamat nabasa ku ung blogs mu kc nka receive nko ng email today
e sedn na sa courier ung doc ku they already made the decision. dami ngssbi pg gnito denied dw.
ngaun nliwangan n tlga aku n mllmn mu lng tlga pg arrive n ng passport mu. so waiting nlng aku ngaun sa 2go to pick up my doc..
      i got a result after 9 days

  • Hi Noelle, how we’re you able to get your visa? Did you receive any email that indicates that your passport are ready to be claimed? I am so worried i haven’t received any email yet regarding the status of my application and I submitted it since may 28 pa.

    • Hi Chinita, yes we received an email from VFS saying our processed application was received at the application centre. I claimed our passports a day after.

Have you tried emailing them for the status?

  • Not yet, but i emailed them just now. I received that same email last week. And i was waiting until now for any updates, but wala. So i’m worried. I probably need to go to vfs directly tomorrow to check. ? I’m so worried talaga.

  • Hi noelle, i got that same email last june 10. And til now I’m waiting for any updates pero wala. Kasi I’m thinking na ieemail nila if it’s ready na to claim.

  • But does the email contain instructions to get your passport? Ours did.

The processed visa application for GWF reference number – was received at the UK Visa Application Centre on 6/25/2014 3:04 PM .

If a courier service was purchased from VFS, your processed application will be delivered to the chosen address.

If not, your documents can be collected during the designated passport collection times.

  • But as you can read on the lower part of the email, it gave instructions on how to retrieve your travel documents 🙂 If you availed the courier, it will be sent back to you. if not, you have to pick it up from VFS.

    • Hi Chinita, I think you need to personally go at the VFS to claim your passport. since you’ ve got an email you just have to bring the VFS receipt which they provided you during your application. the moment you received an email your passport was already delivered there. thanks!

  • Hi Noelle,

Correct me if I’m wrong. Is that email means nadecide na nila yung application? and i just have to pick it up, since hindi ako nag avail ng courier.

Yung iba kasi they received emails such as “your visa are ready to dispatched etc. ” or you can collect etc.”

  • Noelle, Omg. nagaantay pako, andun na pala. Will go there tomorrow, thank you Noelle. I’m just praying sana ok sya. Sobrang anxious na ako about this visa.
    Thank you again.

  • Hi Lime, Thanks . Will go there tomorrow. My bad as I overlooked the word “Processed application” message written there. Medyo nalito ako dun sa email nila. But Thank you. Praying for good result.

  • hi i was paying my application throughworldpay im using RCBC debit visa card po. ano po ginamit nyo sa pagbayad sa world pay? unsuccesful po kasi yung akin palagi. any recommendation kung ano card dapat kung gamitin?

  • hi po… i just want to know if refuse ba visa ko or approve .. ive just receive this email today…
Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days depending on which country you applied from or will be couriered back to you only if you have availed of this service. UKVI

This is an automated message. Please do not respond to this email address as incoming mail is not answered.
WHAT DOES IT MEANS???? thank u po

    • Hi Rolly,

Hindi ako masyadong familiar sa emails nila ngayon pero sa mga ibang nagcocomment parang pag ganyan, your visa will be dispatched shortly daw. It’s either imemail nila yung passport (kung inavail mo yun at nagbayad ka) or ipick-up mo dun sa VFS office siguro. Kung wala pa, sabi naman sa email mo sa taas – after 3 days depending on which country you applied.

Walang makakaalam kung nakakuha ka ng visa or narefuse ka based on the emails, masisiguro mo lang pag nasayo na ang passport mo. Good Luck! 🙂

    • Hi kuya Rolly,

      • Hi angel,

And kanina lng ako naka receive ng 2 emails.. Idk if kelan darating ung passport and documents ko

  • Hi! I just wanna ask. How do you know if your visa is approved? Do they tell you before they send you the documents or you just find out when you get back your documents?

  • Really informative post, thank you for that! Just a quick question though, did you submit documents from friends/relatives in the UK (e.g. letter of invitation, copy their passports etc.)?

    • Hi Angelo,

No, I did not have sponsors from the UK since I was paying for my own trip and was not staying with them but I did list friends/family in the UK that I know on the application. 🙂

    • I’m not sure. I’m only aware of credit card payments. One reader said that they allow debit cards too but his/hers didn’t work. Sorry.

  • Hi. I applied tourist visa in italian embassy to visit my parents but I got denied because of the following reasons: 1. You have not provided of sufficient means of subsistence; for the duration of the intended stay or for the return to the country of origin 2. The information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intense stay was not reliable 3. Your intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained

can you help me or give me some advice for this. I unemployed right now (fresh graduate) we have properties here in the philippines but it’s my parents property can I use that as my proof of evidence since I will just visiting my parents there and will not overstay. How will I proved that? I hope you can read mine also.Thank you and Godbless!

    • Hi kellysantos,

I really don’t know how they process visa applications or whatever criteria they have. It’s always good to be employed or have a business when applying for any kind of visa since it shows that you have a steady source of income. Also, if you travel to other countries, it also helps since it offers proof that you have the means to travel and that you would return to your country. These are not guarantees though. I’ve read other blogs and forums where they have all these and still get denied. I’m just guessing that because your parents already live there and you are unemployed here, you do not have strong ties to the Philippines so maybe that’s why they stated those reasons above. I think you would really have to prove that you have strong ties in the Philippines and that there is something to return to here. Good luck! 🙂

  • hi miss ems,

    • Hi jed,

Hindi required ang cenomar, nbi at philhealth at the time na nag-apply ako last year.

  • hi ems,
unfortunately, i made an honest mistake in the online application and just realized after submitting it… can i still make a correction on the printed form and just advise the VCF application center? thanks!

    • hi cristina,

I also made a mistake on mine. I switched my first name and my last name on the online application. I told the person taking the documents and she told me to just scratch it and correct it there on the printed form. So yes, you can ask them if it’s okay to correct it. Hope this helps. 🙂

  • Hi miss ems,

I just received an email from UKBI-Manila Visa Hub and it says,

“Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days depending on which country you applied from or will be couriered back to you only if you have availed of this service. UKVI”

Based po sa mga posts dito, pag yan ung na rcved na email,it means approved po dba?pero i know po na i need to wait for my passport to be delivered para mas sure..ano po tingin nyo miss ems based sa email?thanks in advance..

    • Hi Gelai,

As I always say, I’m really in no position to say kung sino na-approve or hindi. What I can say is a couple of readers have shared an email similar to yours and fortunately, they were given a visa. So, best of luck and hope for the best. Let us know din kung sakali. 🙂

  • Hi, Ems.

Just wanna ask lang, do i have a change to get my visa going to UK, My concern is, I have a brother from UK, and he has a Cancer, and he needs family member that will take care of him, specially about his condition, my brother wife has a lots of off duty last year, so she need to back to work, for there daily needs specially they have two kids, that are studying. My brother Doctor they send me, an letter invitation indicates my brother situation right now, included the hospital nurse, and etc, I am now waiting for at least 15 days of working for my visa, thats what they said, my concern again is, what do you think of my condition? do they have the right? to not approved my visa? or i have change to get my visa? your opinion will help me think of this. God bless

    • Hi Joan,

As I’ve mentioned before, I am in no position to tell you about your chances of your visa’s approval since I really have no idea kung paano sila magproseso. My advise though is that as long as you present complete and honest documents, you presented enough proof of your ties to the country having no intention to overstay your visa, you increase your chances. 🙂

      Good luck! 🙂

  • hi ems! thank you sa reply! Good thing na naligaw ako dito sa blog mo hehe malaking tulong din yung mga taong hindi madamot I-share yung experiences nila whether approved or refuse yung application nila 🙂 keep it up. sa mga katulad ko na worried pa rin about sa mga requirements hehe tiwala lang! sa mga na approved na congratulations sa inyo and have a safe trip! sa mga na refused try and try lang hehe 😉 salamat sa lahat ng mga nag she-share ng information malaking tulong yun sa mga kagaya ko na hindi alam ang mga dapat gawin. More power! Goodluck and Godbless to everyone!

I can’t wait to share my experiences also to help others 🙂

  • Hi ms ems. Do i need to wear formal clothes? Or ok na basta may collar?

And any suggestions po ng affordable na hotel near VFS and NAIA? thanks

    • Hi Reden,

Naka-jeans lang ako nung pumunta dun at shirt na may collar. Di naman kailangan ng formal pero syempre it’s always nice to be presentable. 🙂

  • Hi Ate Ems!
I received an e-mail today stating
Your visa will be despatched shortly. Passports can normally be collected from the Visa Application Centre after 3 days depending on which country you applied from or will be couriered back to you only if you have availed of this service. UKVI

What does this mean? Approved po ba yung application ko? Please respond. Hope to hear from you soon.

    • Hi Niks,

Sorry sa late reply. I’m currently travelling and can’t check this often.

If you chose pick up, then you should go the the VFS. If it’s by mail, just wait a few days for it to be delivered.

Wala makakapgsabi based on emails if it’s approved or not. 🙂 Let us know kung ano man. Good luck! :))
