Guest Post: Philippine Passport Extension and Renewal at Marquee Mall

UPDATE (MARCH 1, 2016): My cousin went to DFA Marquee Mall recently to get their Philippine passport renewal at DFA Marquee Mall. THEY ARE CURRENTLY SCHEDULING FOR APPOINTMENTS. NO MORE WALK-INS. They have NO online appointment system in place at the moment like some DFA offices in Manila. They need the applicant to personally come to make an appointment for himself/herself and any companion or email them to schedule one (they said that this takes longer), then they would have to come at said appointment date. My cousin went on the last week of February and they got an appointment for March 23, 2016. My cousin’s wife is pregnant so they gave her an option to renew her passport on the day itself, she didn’t have to set an appointment because she was given priority. They didn’t take it. They opted to just go on the appointment date.

UPDATE (MARCH 23, 2016): We were there today at DFA Marquee Mall and I took pictures of their new scheduling policy. My cousins were there today for their appointment and they were let in at 9:30am but they still had to line up inside. We checked on them once the mall opened and they were still on the line outside DFA Marquee at around 10:15 am. They were finished at around 11:20am.

Since, the Passport Renewal at Marquee Mall is one of my top posts, I try to keep the information updated so I ask friends and family who have been there recently for their input. My friend Cen went to Angeles City, Pampanga recently for her Philippine passport extension and renewal at Marquee Mall but since they have a delay with everything, they are currently offering extensions. I asked her to write about her experience. She also shares tips on how to schedule an appointment the quickest possible way and expedite renewal. You can read it below.

I am scheduled to leave for Japan on September 24, 2015 and for that I need to secure a visa, so I prepared all the necessary requirements needed. Everything’s prepared, so I submitted my documents to the travel agency on the first week of August. I was confident that I will get my visa.  However, to my surprise, the agency told me that my passport should have at least 6 months validity from the date of my departure. That means I need to renew my passport so I can apply for my visa. I was already disheartened that time knowing how long it will take for me to renew my passport. I won’t be able to make it to my flight. I already lost hope that time, but to my surprise the agency told me that I was given a Visitor’s Visa provided that I should renew my passport as soon as I get my passport with visa. For a moment, I saw a pocketful of hope, but again with the delay in the passport issuance, I was still hesitant that I will make it to my flight. However, I took the risk to renew my passport.

Here’s what I did, I read some blogs first regarding the condition of passport delays and would there be any way that I can expedite my renewal.

I have checked all satellite offices and all of them have a one month waiting time and it is only in DFA Manila that you can have your passport expedited (10working days) provided that you will present your confirmed flight and it’s a case to case basis. The only way you can go there is by appointment, so I was thinking I still have enough time to have my passport be ready before September 23, so went online and booked an appointment and to my surprise, all the dates in August were already booked and the earliest date available was September 3. I didn’t lose hope so I booked the appointment.

I was really worried, what if I won’t be able to get my passport renewal expedited? I continued browsing on the DFA web page and found out that you can have appointment at the earliest possible date available by calling their hotline (02) 737-1000.  I tried to book an appointment over the phone but I wasn’t given the chance, because I already had an online appointment. The lesson is: if you are in a hurry, before booking an appointment online, you have to first call their hotline to see if they can schedule you at the earliest available date. With that, I’ve got no choice but to wait until September 3 to have my passport renewal at DFA Aseana.

Days are passing by and I was still worried if I can have my passport renewed right on time, luckily there was an advisory from DFA regarding passport renewal and extension. I immediately read the guidelines and it says that if you have an expiring passport you can have it extended for 6months.

August 30, I went to DFA at Marquee Mall, I arrived at around 9:30am and there were already people who are waiting near the entrance of Italiani’s. What I did, I gave my application form to the security guard (it’s better to download the application form and fill it out so that you can give it directly to the guard). For passport renewal, they will only need 2 valid IDs. Since I was planning to have my passport extended, I immediately told the assessor, so that she won’t cancel my expiring passport. After that, I paid Php950.00, had my information and picture taken. I finished the renewal in less than 30minutes.

After that, I went back to the information counter and told the receptionist that I would like to have my passport extended. So she gave me a form which I filled out, then had my passport renewal receipt, front and back page of passport photocopied. My renewed passport will be available on October 15 or the first week of December – worst case scenario. I was informed that I will get my current passport with the extension within 2 working days. And tadah!!! Japan here I come!!!

  • Call the hotline (02)737-1000 to get an appointment at the earliest possible date for DFA Manila
  • You cannot make an appointment by phone if you already have an online appointment
  • Bring a filled out application form to save time, photocopy front and back page of passport, bring at least 2 valid ID’s for renewal
  • Let the Assessor know that you want an extension for your passport so they don’t punch a hole on it

    • Hi chenee108,

I know extension of passport is always available at the NSO head office in Manila because I have friends that extended theirs there. I’m just not sure if you can at other DFA offices or if it was just a special circumstance at the time. It would be nice if you let us know when you find out. 🙂

    • Hi Arzel,

Pag expired na ang passport, hindi na pwedeng iextend. Valid passports lang. Pwede niyo din siguro sila itry iemail – baka sakali lang. Nandun sa isang blog post ko yung email address para sa appointments sa Marquee mall. 🙂
