Nagoya Chubu Centrair International Airport

Nagoya Chubu Centrair International Airport

After checking in, we had some time so we decided to check out the airport because I read that it’s supposedly really nice. I asked the lady at Jetstar how long does it take to go through the domestic security and she said that it’s approximately 15 minutes. I’m glad that we did not go in yet since what’s inside the domestic terminal is mostly just seats and coffee kiosks.

Yoshinoya in Nagoya

Yoshinoya in Nagoya

We love Yoshinoya. It’s our fool proof, inexpensive go to place for food in Japan. It never fails us. Haha. For our dinner on our last night in Nagoya, not a lot of restaurants were open. So we decided to look up Yoshinoya.

Nagoya Tour

Nagoya Tour

Nagoya is the largest city in the Chubu region of Japan. We made this our base for this leg of the trip because of its proximity to the airport and affordable accommodations. We had limited time here. We only spent about two nights and we were flying out in the morning so after our Takayama/Shirakawa-go day trip, the night was the only time we had to see the city.

Bus from Nagoya to Takayama

Bus from Nagoya to Takayama

Takayama is a city in the Hida Region of Gifu Prefecture. We actually went this way to see Shirakawa-go but since there are only 2 tours for the day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We decided to see the city while waiting for our afternoon tour. We left our hotel early in the morning to catch our bus at the Nagoya Station. Nagoy to Takayama takes approximately 2-3 hours. It costs 2980. You can also take the train which costs around 5510 yen for the express and it will take 138 minutes or 3310 yen for the local train with 4 transfers and it takes 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Vending Machine Restaurant in Nagoya

Vending Machine Restaurant in Nagoya

I don’t know the name of this place but it’s near our hotel. We walked around after check in to find a place to eat. It was really late and I’m glad they still let us in even if it was really close to their closing time.

Mystays Hotel Nagoya-Sakae

Mystays Hotel Nagoya-Sakae

I chose Mystays Nagoya-Sakae for our accommodation on the Nagoya leg of our trip because of the price basically, it only costs us 8,490 yen or around 3,200 pesos for a triple room. That breaks it down to around 1, 065 per person for a night. It’s relatively close to the subway, about 5 minutes walk. There are a few restaurants around the area and also a lot of convenient stores. I wanted to stay near the Nagoya Station but I couldn’t find any available hotel near it at the time of booking at a good price.

Our Winter Japan Trip Itinerary

Our Winter Japan Trip Itinerary

When there’s a Japan seat sale at Cebu Pacific, my heart always skips a beat. Usually when I go to a place the second time, it’s not as amazing as the first time. Japan however, does not disappoint. We went to about 7 cities/towns. It was my dream to see Shirakawa-go and I finally did! It was not cheap but I think it was worth it since It would probably be hard to go back during the winter and this is the time Shirakawa-go really shines. I don’t mind coming back to this beautiful country whenever I can afford it or live there if I ever get the chance. Haha.
