Airbnb in Fukuoka

Airbnb in Fukuoka

We got our tickets only two weeks before our trip and it was on sale. We had to wait for our two friends if they get the visa before booking anything. We’re really glad they did. It was a scramble then to find decent accommodation. We’re just glad that it wasn’t high season. Hotels were really expensive at the time of booking. The cheapest I could find was 5,000 pesos for a double room per night. So, I turned to looking for Airbnb in Fukuoka. We had a really good experience from our Airbnb in Tokyo last year. This was equally a pleasant experience.

Tenerife on a budget

Tenerife on a budget

I honestly never heard of Tenerife or the Canary Islands prior to this trip so this was a really nice discovery thanks to my travel partner who insisted we go somewhere warm for a winter holiday. 🙂 We decided to do Tenerife on a budget as much as we could so we can possibly return sooner. Haha.

Tenerife is the largest and most populous among the seven Canary Islands. It is a territory of Spain so if you are from the Philippines and hold a Philippine passport, you only need a valid Schengen visa to visit this place. If you’re european, you only need your national ID.

Where to Stay in Mandalay

Where to Stay in Mandalay

If you’re like me who prefers to have most things in order with travel arrangements, this might be for you. I’m the kind of traveler who prefers to have a hotel/hostel already reserved for my destination. So I always book one before I go. Of course this has its advantage and disadvantages. I like having a place to find and lay my weary head with from a long travel than shop around at my destination even if it’s low season. So, these were the hotels that in my research and experience are good options on where to stay in Mandalay. I ordered them from by price.

M3 Hotel Review in Mandalay

I booked the hotel before my trip since I didn’t want to look for any while I was there. Otherwise, I wouldn’t mind staying at Royal Yadanarbon Hotel again. This hotel is a bit pricier than my usual pick but the location is really good. It’s on the main road and a couple of blocks from the AirAsia bus stop which is the corner of the Royal Palace complex as well. I asked my friend who lived there about my hotel choices before booking and she said that she knew this one so I went with it. Here’s my M3 Hotel review. 🙂

Inle Star Motel Review

Inle Star Motel Review

I didn’t actually bother to make reservations for Inle Lake since we weren’t really sure what time we were gonna arrive. My friend had stayed here before with her friends so this was the one we went to. We buzzed them at 4 in the morning. I think it’s a young husband and wife team that manages this place and they were really nice. We did not have a reservation but he was gracious enough to give us a room so we can get a bit of sleep before we head out for the day. I don’t recommend this during high season. It’s only because it’s low season that you would usually find availability. We were given a room on the second floor. Here’s my Inle Star Motel review. 🙂

Ostello Bello Bagan

Ostello Bello Bagan

Ostello Bello Bagan is a hostel located in New Bagan and I did not like it. It seemed really good when I was booking and it had really good reviews so I decided to go ahead with it. It is very popular with backpackers so that is the crowd of the hostel, mostly young groups in their 20s backpacking through Southeast Asia. I think for a dorm room stay, it would be great value. I booked a private room and I wish I had booked elsewhere.

Royal Yadanarbon Hotel in Mandalay

Royal Yadanarbon Hotel in Mandalay

I had to stay one night in Mandalay before I moved on to Bagan since I really did not want to travel at night solo. I booked Hotel Royal Yadanarbon Hotel because it was inexpensive for $20 a night and it was near the city. Also, it had fantastic reviews and I can see why. I actually wish I hadn’t booked another hotel on my return since this was way cheaper and it was really good value. I asked my friend who lived there about this and she didn’t really know where it was so I wasn’t sure if I should stay here but I took the risk anyway and booked it.

Citin Pratunam

Citin Pratunam

I chose Citin Pratunam primarily for its location in Pratunam. I walked from the airport rail link station to the hotel which is about 2-3 blocks away if you know where you’re going. It helps that I am familiar with the area too. Just outside the hotel is a plethora of street food and also a 7-11 nearby. I stayed here twice. One night to leave my luggage and when I returned from Myanmar for a few nights.

The Phoenix Airport Hotel Bangkok

The Phoenix Airport Hotel Bangkok

So I was looking for cheap accommodations near the airport that had free pick up and drop off at the airport. Basically a cheap place to sleep. I didn’t want to get a taxi so late at night into the city. I found a really good deal at booking.com for the Phoenix Airport Hotel Bangkok and with relatively good reviews. On arrival, I went near exit number 4 on the second floor and asked about The Phoenix hotel among these.

Airbnb accommodation near Harajuku

Airbnb accommodation near Harajuku

I was dreading to book a place in Tokyo since I know it would cost a bit more than other places in Japan. Our accommodations on this trip have been relatively the same on budget – 3000 pesos a night for a triple room. So, 1000 pesos budget per person. I was looking for something around this price range and I was glad I found an airbnb accommodation in Harajuku. I also got a discount since I signed up for a new account and this is actually my first experience booking on airbnb. I inquired about a few places. I also showed my cousin the places I was looking at and coincidentally, she has stayed at one of the place a specific property manager was managing so we went with that one.
