The main gateway to Belgium is Zaventem or Brussels airport. From Antwerp, the distance is about 44 kilometers. There are several options to get from Brussels airport to Antwerp. You can get to Antwerp by train, by car or by bus. The fastest way to get from Brussels airport to Antwerp is by train and it takes 33 minutes. The car takes maybe 40 minutes depending on traffic. BRUSSELS AIRPORT TO ANTWERP BY TRAIN
The car will always be the most convenient if you reside in Antwerp. However, if you are a tourist, I think the train is the most convenient. It takes approximately 33 minutes. For me, this is the most practical and fastest especially when you go on the hours that are not busy and if you are staying near the Antwerp Central station. The cost of a ticket per way is 11.60 euros. There are direct trains from Brussels Airport to Atwerp Central Station once every hour in the morning and late night. During regular office hours, there are 2 direct trains every hour. You can buy your tickets in advance at the ticket offices at the station, the kiosks around the station or even online.
We took the earliest train from Antwerp Central Station to Brussels airport at 04:45 in the morning. There were a few people that were already there when we went. The shops were all closed at the time. We felt relatively safe at the station at those early hours.
BRUSSELS AIRPORT TO ANTWERP BY BUS
There bus company that serves the Brussels airport to Antwerp route is De Decker – Van Reit. The bus ride takes approximately 45 minutes. It has two stops in Antwerp. One at Koningin Astridplein and this stop is right across the Antwerp Central station. The other stop is at the south side of the city and it’s marked as Crowne Plaza. BRUSSELS AIRPORT TO ANTWERP BY CAR/TAXI
Depending where you are staying, this ride takes approximately 42 minutes giver or take a few and depending on traffic conditions. This is the most convenient if you reside in Antwerp and especially if you have a large luggage. It gets you directly to the front door of your destination. If you have a car, it can be the most economical because gas prices are not high. If you are taxing a taxi, the price can range from 95-120 euros per way. Uber is not available in Belgium. I’ve heard of a ride sharing service called Blah Blah Car but I’ve never personally tried it.
