We were at the Tenjin Underground Shopping complex window shopping when we saw this line in front of this really cool looking store. Whenever we see lines in Japan, it’s always a good sign. We’ve never been disappointed. So we check it out. It seems like they were just selling one product – it’s the Bake cheese tart.
According to the Bake Cheese Tart website, BAKE’s freshly baked cheese tarts have their origins in Kinotoya, a long-established Western confectionery store in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Their tarts started out as delectable chilled blueberry cheese tarts.
Look at the yumminess, yup we were convinced to get our hands on those! So we were gonna line up in front of the store. Apparently that was not the end of the line, we were directed a few stores down near the stairwell. That’s where the lines ends which wasn’t too bad so we decided to line up.
LINING UP FOR BAKE CHEESE TART
We were given a laminated board with instructions. Kudos for having it in English as well. It’s 216 yen each (tax included) which is roughly about 93 pesos. A box of 6 is 1242 yen. You save 50 yen. 🙂 Every customer is limited to 12 pieces. You have to queue again if you want more or just bring a friend. Haha.
After maybe 10 minutes, it was our turn to line at the store and we took a lot of pictures before we reach the counter. They looked and smelled so good.
THE BAKE CHEESE TART STORE
They are prepared and baked fresh at the back.
After it’s cooked, they line them up at the front display table in the store.
They looked so fluffy and oh so good.
Here’s more Bake Cheese Tart food porn.. 😛
We purchased a box of 6 to divide among the four of us. Packaging in Japan is really amazing. They put them in a box with two levels with individual partition. Then in a really pretty paper bag.
They had limited seating on the side of the store. We couldn’t wait til we get home so we devoured one Bake Cheese Tart each. It was really good. It was very light and fluffy. The combination of sweetness and tartness was on spot. The dough was really nice too. The combination of both was just amazing. I could probably finish one box in one seating with a really good TV show or movie. Haha. I can understand why people would line up for these. This was their only branch in the whole Kyushu region so we were really lucky to spot it and have a taste of one of the best cheese tarts I could probably have in my life. 🙂
