Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is one of the popular sights in Kyoto. Entrance is free and anyone can go through the grove of bamboos. It’s open 24/7 and they say that you can take great pictures in the early morning. I’ve always wanted to see it because of the amazing photos I’ve seen on the internet. We did not get a chance to visit it last time I was in Kyoto so I made sure to include it in this trip’s itinerary.
HOW TO GET THERE
There are two ways to go there by public transport both by trains.
Saga Arashiyama Station – JR Sagano line
Arashiyama Station – Henkyu railway
Address: Arahisyam, Ukyo-ku
From Osaka, we took the train to Kyoto station. Then we had to transfer to another train with the JR Sagano line and it took us a little over an hour. It was a 10-15 minute walk from the station to the actual Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
Along the way from the station, you will find shops as well. It was easy to find because most people go there so just follow the crowd. When you are within the Bamboo forest, there is an actual path around the grove.
THE ARASHIYAMA BAMBOO SHRINE PATH
The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is really beautiful.
It’s really hard to take photos without people in it because it was very crowded. There were whole buses loaded with tourists. There was always a crowd everywhere.
We did not really stay long. Went through the path and then back to the station. We wanted to see other parts of Kyoto so we could not spend a lot of time in it. After this, we went to Fushimi Inari Shrine.
