Meininger Hotel Berlin Hauptbanhof is probably the closest we have been on accommodation to a train station. It is literally a few meters away on the right when you exit the main Berlin Central station. The location is very central since you have access to the whole city via metro and buses. Also via trains for nearby countries. The tourist buses where you can hop on and hop off also park across the street from the hotel. Location is definitely 5 out of 5. You can’t beat that. The picture below shows you its proximity to Berlin Hauptbanhof.
The Meininger Hotel Berlin Hauptbanhof has very competitive prices. I love the affordability of the hotel. We paid 42 euros per night for a four bed room, that equals about 10.50 per person per night. It is our own private room with a private bathroom. Albeit on the small side, we still loved our room and our stay.
Upon check-in which was a bit busy even late at night, they gave us our key cards and our room. They took copies of our passport as procedure in most hotels. It took maybe 10 minutes, then we were set. It was quick and pain free.
We had a quadruple room which looks something like below but they also have single rooms, twin rooms and triple rooms so plenty of options. Our room looked something like that but with different orientation. Our beds were on both sides of the wall and not L shaped like the picture. It is also a bit tight but it was enough space for us.
The bathroom was compact but clean and modern. It had the generic soaps that most hotels use now, not the individually packed toiletries.
Our room rate didn’t include breakfast so I can’t really comment on that. We would always go to Dunkin donuts at the station if we were ever hungry in the morning. Some parts of the hotel were under construction during our stay so it was a bit chaotic at times. Since it’s a very busy hotel, elevators can be an issue especially with luggage. You have to wait for your turn sometimes.
All in all, we loved the Meininger Hotel Berlin Hauptbanhof and would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again in the future. 🙂
